People Editorial Guidelines Published on July 18, 2024 11:37AM EDT Photo: Al Hussein bin Abdullah II/Instagram Princess Rajwa of Jordan made a rare royal engagement with Crown Prince Hussein as the couple counts down to the birth of their first child. On July 17, Crown Prince Hussein posted photos on Instagram with his wife of one year during their visit to Digitales, "a Jordanian company creating impactful content on social issues and mental health." The royals, both 30, learned more about the Digitales' animated and digital content production around social issues connected to children, family and mental health. The photos showed Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa opening a tote bag and posing for a group photo, where the royal couple posed in the center. Instead of opting for maternity wear, Princess Rajwa's adorable baby bump was on display in Max Mara's Drina dress featuring a high waistline and a midi-length skirt for the royal engagement. The Royal Hashemite Court announced in April that Princess Rajwa, who received her royal title on her June 2023 wedding day to the heir to the Jordanian throne, was pregnant with her first child, due this summer. Pregnant Princess Rajwa of Jordan Radiates in Red as She Joins Royals at King Abdullah's Silver Jubilee Although Princess Rajwa's official appearances since the pregnancy announcement have been limited, she attended her first royal event since their family news at King Abdullah's Silver Jubilee, marking 25 years of his reign, on June 9. The pageantry complete with a military parade and flypast was attended by around 9,000 people, and Princess Rajwa sat in the front row of the service with her in-laws, the King and Queen Rania, and her husband. The new baby will be the first grandchild of Queen Rania and King Abdullah, and a male child will become second in line to the throne. As outlined in the constitution of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the throne is hereditary to King Abdullah Ibn Al-Hussein’s dynasty and passes in linear succession through the men. If the baby is female, there will be no change to the line of succession. Crown Prince Hussein is heir to the throne, followed by his 19-year-old brother, Prince Hashem. Queen Rania, 53, and King Abdullah, 62, are also parents to two daughters, Princess Iman and Princess Salma, who are not in the line of succession like their brothers. Regardless of sex, it's expected that the baby on the way will receive the titles of His/Her Royal Highness and prince/princess. Crown Prince Hussein turned 30 on June 28, and Queen Rania's birthday wishes for her son on social media affectionately referenced his growing family. Can’t wait to see you and Rajwa as parents!" she wrote below a new photo of her son and daughter-in-law, where Crown Prince Hussein held Princess Rajwa's waist in an angled shot that showed her growing bump.
