Pregnant Carrie Underwood Gets a Puppy: 'Meet the Newest Member of Our Family!'

Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher are bound to have their hands full very soon!

Fisher, 38, revealed he and Underwood, 35, had begun expanding their family a little earlier than they originally anticipated by bringing home a new puppy.

The hockey player shared the exciting news on Instagram Saturday, writing, “Meet the newest member of our family! Isaiah affectionately named him Zero,” while referencing the couple’s son Isaiah Michael, who is almost 4-years-old.

The couple’s latest addition comes as they are getting ready to welcome their second child together.

“I guess it fits because it’s the chance of surviving if you try to break into our home 😂” Fisher jokingly added.

The little pup, which appears to be a German Shepherd, was purchased from Cedar Valley Canine in Tennessee, about 10 miles northwest of Nashville. He will join the couple’s other two dogs, Ace and Penny.

In August, Underwood announced that she and her husband were expecting their second baby.

“You might be wondering or asking, ‘Carrie, why is your tour starting in May?’ Well … yay!” she said, revealing balloons spelling out “BABY” above her head. “Mike and Isaiah and I are absolutely over the moon and excited to be adding another little fish to our pond.”

A pink-clad Underwood continued, “This has just been a dream come true with album and with baby news and all that stuff. We’re just so excited and just so glad you guys can share in this with us and be a part of this with us. Love you guys! We will see you on the road in 2019.”

The singer is currently taking a break for maternity leave, after releasing her latest album, Cry Pretty, on Sept. 14 and hosting the CMA Awards for the 11th time in November, but will kick off her tour, supported by Maddie & Tae and Runaway June, on May 1.

Their baby news comes after Underwood revealed that she suffered from three miscarriages in the last two years.

Opening up about her challenging fertility struggles in an interview in September on CBS Sunday Morning, the “Cry Pretty” singer said she experienced her first miscarriage in 2017.

“I’d kind of planned that 2017 was, you know, going to be the year that I work on new music, and I have a baby,” she said. “We got pregnant early 2017, and didn’t work out.”

After suffering a second miscarriage in 2017 and a third in 2018, the singer said she reached a low point.

“It was just kind of like, ‘Okay, like, what’s the deal? What is all of this?'” she said.

“I had always been afraid to be angry,” Underwood explained of her reaction to the heartbreak. “Because we are so blessed. And my son, Isaiah, is the sweetest thing. And he’s the best thing in the world. And I’m like, ‘If we can never have any other kids, that’s okay because he’s amazing.'”

“And I have this amazing life. Like, really, what can I complain about? I can’t,” she added. “I have an incredible husband, incredible friends, an incredible job, an incredible kid. Can I be mad? No.”

Now that Underwood is in the final stretch of her pregnancy and taking care of their son and a new pet, the superstar and her family are preparing for some exciting changes.

When Jimmy Fallon asked Underwood on The Tonight Show if Isaiah understood his new role as a big brother, Underwood said, “I don’t think for really he does.”

She gushed, “He’ll be really sweet and talk to my belly and kiss my belly. He’s the sweetest little boy. But no kid can really know that their life is going to change… He’ll have to share Mommy.”
