Peta Murgatroyd Is Pregnant! Dancer and Maks Chmerkovskiy Expecting Baby Seven Months After Welcoming Second Son

Peta Murgatroyd and Maks Chmerkovskiy are expanding their family!

The Dancing with the Stars alum, 37, announced on Instagram on Monday that she is pregnant, expecting her third baby with Chmerkovskiy, 44, only seven months after welcoming their second son Rio.

"We Are Having A Baby 🎉🙈🙏🏻," she wrote in her caption. "Yes we know…we just had a baby… haha! This was very unexpected at (4 months postpartum with Rio) but we are sooooo happy and so ready to be a family of 5 soon!"

"Surpising [sic] @maksimc on this FaceTime with my two friends secretly filming from different angles made it all the more hilarious. It took one hour for me to get the courage to call him 😂 and when he wasn’t catching on we all couldn’t stop laughing in the kitchen. I had the 'I’m so sick story' the pickle and 2 bottles HAHA! Oh Maks 🥴," she continued.

The future mom of three went on to acknowledge "everything we've been through" to get to baby No. 3.

"After everything we’ve been through with miscarriages and IVF we’re beyond blessed and know we are uber lucky for this miracle to happen to us. We’re just so happy that we can finally tell you guys the good news 🥹," Murgatroyd wrote.

Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy are already parents to sons Rio and Shai, 7.

Just days after son Rio's birth, the couple exclusively introduced the little one via PEOPLE and revealed his name.

“We loved Rio, which we came upon at the last minute. It’s a perfect complement to our long surname!" Murgatroyd said at the time. "We also wanted something easy to say with Shai."

The baby's middle name, John, is in honor of the Murgatroyd’s late father, Derek John, who died in December 2022.

In September, Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy chatted with PEOPLE exclusively about life as a newly minted family of four after welcoming son Rio in June.

"It's been amazing," Murgatroyd said of their transition to a family of four. "I mean, so busy, chaotic at times, but amazing and beautiful. I just love this stage. I mean, it's so precious. It's so delicate and you don't ever get these stages back."

"So I'm leaning into just being super present and being there for my boys," the pro dancer said. "We're a house full of boys right now. We really thought he was a girl though. We really did."

"We wanted him to be a girl," Chmerkovskiy agreed as Murgatroyd added, "He's our special boy."
