People Editorial Guidelines Published on May 22, 2024 03:35PM EDT Paris Hilton's kids won't be getting phones anytime soon. On Tuesday, May 21, the multi-hyphenate, 43, spoke with husband Carter Reum and Ryan Knuston for The Wall Street Journal's The Future of Everything Festival. Asked when she would consider giving her kids smartphones or letting them on social media, Hilton gave a surprising answer. "I hope that they are nerds like their dad and don’t want anything to do with that," the mom of two says with a laugh. "So I’m going to try to not have them have a phone for a while because I think it’s just…some of these kids are just getting phones at way too young of an age and there’s just so many things online that I wouldn’t even want my children to be exposed to," Hilton adds. "So I never thought I would say this, but I’m going to be the strict mom." Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Paris Hilton Says She Hopes Her Kids Won't Be as 'Addicted to Social Media' as She Is: 'Really Important' Hilton's entire interview will be available to listen to on Thursday, May 23, on The Wall Street Journal's daily podcast, The Journal. Hilton shares her son Phoenix, 16 months, and daughter London, 5 months, with Reum. While attending Propper Daley's fourth "A Day of Unreasonable Conversation" summit in Los Angeles in March, Hilton was joined by U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy on a panel titled "To Suffer Alone." During the panel, Hilton shared that she wants her two kids to "grow up in a world that's kind," which for her includes less social media. "I just want my children just to feel just so loved and seen and want to be that next generation of someone that brings positivity to the world and just to have big hearts and big loving," Hilton shared. "That's something that's really important to me." "And also to live a world outside of social media and being on their phone all the time. So I feel that's really taken a lot from children. Kids are not going outside anymore and playing as much because everyone's just so busy on their phones." "So hopefully my kids won't be as addicted to social media as I am," Hilton added. In 2021, Hilton spoke to Extra about one worry she has about having a daughter. "I'm probably going to be a strict mom. I'm just worried for when my baby London says, 'Mom, I want to go on a date, I want to go to a club,' and I'm going to go, 'No,' " she said.
