Lifetime is working on a new documentary surrounding the life and untimely death of Nicole Brown Simpson.

On the heels of O.J. Simpson's death, PEOPLE has learned that Nicole — the wife of the controversial football star, who was found murdered in 1994 inside the Brentwood, Calif. home she shared with him — will be at the center of a new two-part documentaryThe Life and Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson, tentatively set to air this June.

The documentary, for which Lifetime has interviewed more than 50 people including Nicole's sisters, other family members and friends, will coincide with the 30th anniversary of her murder on June 12, 1994. It will also include previously unreleased archival footage.

The mother of two was 35 when she died. She and O.J. had been married for seven years and shared a son named Justin and a daughter named Sydney.

Nicole's friend Ronald Goldman was also found dead at the Simpson home on that June 1994 evening in California.

Originally arrested for the murders following a nationally broadcast slow-speed chase in Los Angeles, O.J. was later acquitted of all charges in what came to be known as the "Trial of the Century."

He went on to be found liable in a 1997 civil suit related to the deaths and later served jail time for separate crimes unrelated to the case.

While the former football superstar's controversial life has been the topic of multiple documentaries over the years, Lifetime's upcoming project is said to explore Nicole's perspective and experience with domestic violence. The project falls under the network's Stop Violence Against Women initiative.
