The Jonas Brothers Reunite with New Single 'Sucker' — and Take Over the 'Late Late Show'

Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas will drop their first song in over five years on Friday at midnight

It’s official — the Jonas Brothers are getting the band back together.

After over five years apart, the trio — Nick Jonas, Joe Jonas and Kevin Jonas — are reuniting and will drop their new song, “Sucker,” at midnight on Friday, the band announced Thursday morning.

The brothers will also take over James Corden‘s Late Late Show next Monday through Thursday, participating in everything from Carpool Karaoke to the Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts game. They’ll also discuss their reunion and perform their new single on the show.

“It’s nice to be able to finally tell somebody,” Nick admits in a clip from Carpool Karaoke. “We’ve kept this a secret now for almost seven, eight months. This is basically our first performance back.”

Kevin — the only brother who didn’t pursue a solo career — joked: “We’ve gotta dust off the cobwebs.”

Ahead of the official announcement, a source previously told PEOPLE that Nick, 26, Joe, 29, and Kevin, 31, had a breakfast meeting at the famed Polo Lounge at The Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles earlier this month; reps for the brothers did not return PEOPLE’s requests for comment about their next chapter at that time.

Rumors about a reunion first started popping up in January 2018, after the Jonas Brothers’ dedicated Instagram account was reactivated following almost five years of silence. Over a year later, though, the account had yet to post any new images or clips — but that all changed Thursday.

Amping up the speculation, Ryan Liestman, the band’s former backing musician, went on to post a photo with the three brothers that month, writing in the caption, “Family Reunion.”

However, at the time Nick went on to deny that there was any kind of reunion in the immediate works.

“We hung out for a weekend all together and I guess our Instagram was restarted,” Nick told Ryan Seacrest on the E! News red carpet special ahead of the 2018 Grammy Awards. “Right now there’s no reunion planned. But never say never — you never know what’s going to happen.”

The band split up in 2013. At the time, Nick told PEOPLE they were stepping back because “prioritizing our family is really important to us.”

“We’re choosing our family because it was becoming toxic,” Kevin added.

Of course, the three brothers’ lives have changed significantly since they first decided to call it quits. Nick has become a hit-making solo artist and married Priyanka Chopra, 36; Joe found success with the band DNCE and will walk down the aisle with finacée Sophie Turner, 23; and Kevin has been raising his two children — daughters Alena Rose, 5, and Valentina Angelina, 2 — with wife Danielle Jonas, 32, in New Jersey.

There’s also a chance the boys could return to the small screen together.

In 2017, Nick told PEOPLE he was onboard for an R-rated third installment of the Camp Rock series, which the brothers starred in alongside Demi Lovato on the Disney Channel.

“If the right thing comes together, I think that’d be fun,” Nick said of the idea. “It’s a really delicate thing because [they’re two films] really beloved by fans. So I think for it to work, it’d have to be some creative new version where we get a writing team and do something special.”

“But I absolutely love working with Demi and my brothers,” he continued.
