Morgan Wallen Arrested on Felony Charges After Throwing Chair from Nashville Rooftop Bar

The country singer, 30, was charged with felony reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct by Metro Nashville police

Morgan Wallen was arrested in Nashville on three felony charges.

The country singer, 30, allegedly threw a chair off the roof of a six-story bar on Broadway in Nashville just before 11 p.m. local time on Sunday, April 7, according to a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) from Metro Nashville police.

Two police officers were standing in front of Chief's Bar at the time and watched the chair fall from the rooftop to street level, according to the statement.

Wallen was arrested and charged with three counts of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct, according to court records obtained by PEOPLE. He faced a $15,250 bond, and is due in court in Nashville on May 3 for "settlement."

According to several witnesses, Wallen was seen picking up the chair, throwing it over the rooftop's edge and "laughing afterward," local outlet WKRN reported. Video footage reviewed by police showed the "Last Night" singer throw an object off the roof, plunging it six stories down.

Chief's on Broadway, owned by country singer Eric Church, just had its grand opening on Friday, April 5.

The country singer has previously faced controversy in both 2020 and 2021 after he was arrested on public intoxication and disorderly conduct charges while out on Broadway. He issued a public apology and the charges were eventually dropped. The following year, he was captured on video saying the N-word while drunk on a night out with friends. The incident led to the suspension of his record label contract, a disqualification from the 2021 Academy of Country Music Awards and the removal of his songs from radio play.

He later revealed in a sit-down interview on Good Morning America following his apology that he checked into a rehabilitation center after the incident.
