Miranda Kerr Reveals the Reason She Decided to 'Sit This One Out' as She Skips 2024 Met Gala

We were missing some of our favorites at the Met Gala on May 6.

Fashion veterans like Blake Lively, Rihanna and Katy Perry were all otherwise occupied on fashion's biggest night.

Miranda Kerr is another Met Gala mainstay who was nowhere to be found on the Met steps when the event kicked off — and now we know why.

The model, 41, revealed her reason for staying home on Instagram on May 6, and, well, it makes sense.

"Happy Met Gala Monday! Decided to sit this one out with our newborn 💕👼💕 Can’t wait to see all of the beautiful looks tonight!"

Kerr welcomed her fourth child in February with husband Evan Spiegel. They named him Pierre Kerr Spiegel.

The Kora Organics founder is already mom to three boys: Myles, 4, and Hart, 5, with her Span Inc. CEO husband. She is also mom to son Flynn, 12, whom she shares with ex-husband Orlando Bloom, 46.

At last year's Met Gala — dedicated to the late Karl Lagerfeld, famed for his work at Chanel — Kerr wore a shimmering Dior Haute Couture gown with jewel-embroidered straps, plus jewelry by Dior.

The Costume Institute exhibit that tied into the gala showcased about 150 of Lagerfeld's greatest outfits across his groundbreaking six-decade career, including designs he made while working for brands like Balmain, Patou, Chloé, Fendi, Chanel and his own eponymous label.

The 2024 Met Gala theme is “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” which corresponds to the newest exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It will run from May 10 to Sept. 2.

Andrew Bolton, curator in charge, said that the show will be compartmentalized into a core exhibit and three additional zones — Land, Sea and Sky — which he told Vogue “is very much an ode to nature and the emotional poetics of fashion.”
