Before Tyson, 58, and Paul, 27, let it all out in the ring at Texas’ AT&T Stadium in front of a global audience on Friday, Nov. 15, the two had to be separated at the weigh-in a day earlier when Tyson responded to Paul stepping on his foot with an open-handed slap. Following the encounter, a source close to Tyson told ESPN that the former heavyweight champion reacted after Paul “purposefully” stepped on his foot, as Tyson was fed up with Paul trash talking him. The two were quickly separated after the incident and Tyson was taken away, while Paul amped up the crowd, saying, “It's personal now. He must die!” Mike Tyson, Jake Paul. When it's over, it's over. But while the process is going on, my intention is to hurt him. I hope he has the same intentions, or he is in trouble,” he said, according to the outlet. Paul, meanwhile, previously told PEOPLE that he's taking inspiration from three-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes for the fight. "It's cliché, but there's a reason he's the best," said Paul of the 29-year-old Kansas City quarterback. "He continues to win and continues to show up and be a leader." Jake Paul.
