The professional skiers announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post shared on April 4. “🤗🫶💍👫🤭,” the caption read as the pair posed for a selfie with mountains in the background. Flashing beaming smiles, the couple appeared to be in great spirits as Shiffrin displayed her left hand which featured a dazzling engagement ring with two gold bands. In the second snap, Kilde, 31, held up Shiffrin’s hand to the camera to offer a closer look at her diamond ring. The camera then switched to Kilde in the third photo as he held his soon-to-be bride's hand while widening his eyes and pressing his lips together. All About Aleksander Aamodt Kilde The Olympians then shared another snap of themselves flashing bright smiles at the camera as they stood in the street in a mountainous location. “Congratulations you guys!,” former ski racer Bode Miller wrote, while the U.S, Ski Team also offered their well wishes. Another user added, “AHHHHH YAYYY!! Never have I been so excited for two people I don’t know at all!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!! 😍😍😍,” while a third commented, “About time congratulations hopefully within the next couple decades we’ll see some super kids breaking some records.” The duo's happy news comes after Kilde suffered a “brutal” crash while competing in a World Cup downhill race in Wengen, Switzerland in January. Kilde is in good hands at the hospital in Bern, says the team’s doctor Marc Jacob Strauss,” his team wrote on Instagram at the time, adding that his injuries included a dislocated shoulder and a cut on his calf. Meanwhile, Kilde thanked Shiffrin, 29, at the time for taking care of him, writing, “I’m here (and being taken care of by the one and only @mikaelashiffrin ❤️),” he wrote in the caption, adding that he’s “patched up.” Kilde confirmed his relationship with Shiffrin on May 31, 2021 when he posted snaps of the pair with the caption, "If you know, you know... and now you know."
