While attending the People's Choice Country Awards in Nashville this week, the country singer-songwriter, 40, chatted with PEOPLE exclusively and revealed that her son Grayson Clark has a trick to staying up past his bedtime. "He's got such a good sense of humor," she tells PEOPLE. "What he's starting to do at night, because he doesn't like to go to bed, he is smart so he starts, you know like saying his stomach hurts, or saying 'I don't feel good.'" Mickey Guyton Gets Parenting Advice from Maren Morris, Carrie Underwood: Moms 'Rally Around You' "Or, 'Mommy lay down,' because he wants me to lay...so he's like a little mischievous. And he likes to sneak and take our things and put them in places. Like we wouldn't be able to find our phone. We won't be able to find our lint roller because Grayson has taken it upon himself to hide it," Guyton continues. Guyton notes it's not just her son's humor that's growing. "It's really terrifying how fast it goes by," she says of her son growing up. "Like I blinked and he's two and a half years old." "They say it goes by fast, but really it goes by so much faster than you can ever think," she tells PEOPLE. In November 2021, Guyton provided an update on her son after she previously explained he "fell ill" and was sent to the hospital for "dehydration because of a severe stomach bug." "He's doing so much better," said Guyton on the TODAY show at the Thanksgiving Day Parade. "He's out [of the hospital]. He's home with my husband right now. As soon as the parade's done I'm getting on a flight to be back with him for Thanksgiving." She added, "I'm just thankful for family. I'm thankful for my son. This is my first Thanksgiving as a mom, and that's just changed my life. So I'm really thankful for that, and family and life." Close
