Machine Gun Kelly's late father had a dark childhood growing up.

The "I Think I'm OKAY" musician, 34, opened up about his father's past during the Aug. 5 episode of Bunnie Xo's Dumb Blonde podcast, recalling how the latter — who died in July 2019 — once had to stand trial at age 9 for the murder of his own father.

"The story that was always told to me was that their dad dropped the gun, and his head essentially blew off," MGK (whose real name is Colson Baker) shared. "All happened in the room with my dad at 9 years old. So him and my grandmother were tried for the murder. They were both acquitted."

During the podcast, the rapper/rocker admitted that he would always "get so mad" at his father growing up because he'd "freak out" if he heard a "loud noise" or "boom."

"I would be like, 'You’re supposed to be a man, dude. Why are you acting like this?' and it just made me hate him," MGK said. "And then, you sit there, and you think about a kid who was on trial at 9 years old for the murder of his father... I had a very interesting talk with him on his deathbed about that moment."

The "Lonely Road" artist extended some grace to his father for navigating a rough childhood and parenthood journey, saying, "In my situation with my father, he was so tormented from some of the most insane s--- that I can imagine a kid can go through that he had to figure it out, but with almost every possible bad circumstance going against him, too."

"It's almost like the expectations are too high," he continued. "Because we think that they know everything because we grew up looking up at them. But we're all just lost and trying to figure it out."

MGK first opened up about the gruesome details of his grandfather's death in his 2022 Life in Pink documentary after noting that he watched his dad "suffer a lot" growing up.

"He watched his dad die in front of him, bleed out on the floor, shot in the head with a shotgun in his apartment," the "Emo Girl" musician recalled while reading a June 6, 1968, article from the Albuquerque Journal with the headline: "Army Chief Warrant Officer Is Found Shot to Death at Sandia Base Apartment."

In the documentary, MGK turns to his daughter, Casie, 15, as he explains, "It's crazy 'cause they actually took my dad to trial at 9 years old."

Reflecting on how the traumatic experience later impacted his own life, the Grammy-nominated artist said, "'Cause he never took a chance to heal, all that stuff, it came out on me as I grew up." His daughter added, "I can see why my dad was so depressed, 'cause like, it kind of passed on through generations to him."
