Author Lisi Harrison and Ellen Marlow Share They’re Writing a New Book in The Clique Series: ‘Update on the Girlies’

The Pretty Committee is back, like you’ve never seen them before!

In a TikTok posted on Oct. 23, actress Ellen Marlow shared that she and The Clique author Lisi Harrison are writing a new book in the beloved young adult series — which will feature the book’s central characters now in their 20s. 

“The girls want to know what Massie Block is doing for real,” Marlow asks Harrison in the video, of one of the novel's characters. “Can you tell them?”

“What Massie Block is doing for real is she is dancing around my head and dancing around Ellen’s head,” Harrison says. “And together we are birthing her and writing another book that will tell you exactly what she and the Pretty Committee are doing, now that they are 27-year-old women.”

The Clique book series follows Claire Lyons, who befriends a group of wealthy girls, known as the Pretty Committee, when she moves from Florida to New York. The series, which debuted in 2004, includes 14 novels.

Marlow played Claire in the 2008 movie adaption of The Clique, which also featured Bridgit Mendler, Elizabeth McLaughlin, Samantha Boscarino and Sophie Anna Everhard. In the caption of her TikTok, Marlow revealed that she and Harrison have been plotting, creating outlines and hopping on “endless Zoom calls” about the novel for nearly two years.

“Thank you all for the love and support over the years,” Marlow's caption says. “We can’t wait to give you the update on the girlies.”

Fans of the book were quick to share their support for the new project in the comment section.

“SCREAMING! The Clique series started my love of reading. My 32 year old self is so excited 😍,” one user writes.

“I literally loved The Clique books and movie so much growing up!" another user adds. "You were such a pivotal part in my childhood. I am so excited right now as a mid 20’s girly that can relate to the new book! 🥺.”

Other users shared their own speculations about where the novel’s central characters might have ended up — as well as burning questions about the book that they need answers to.

“I know Massie is an influencer living in NYC,” one user writes.

“What is the status of Bean I need to know,” another user says, referencing Massie’s beloved pug.

The new Clique book does not yet have a release date, but fans are eager to hear more.
