Photo: Vogue/YouTube There are more shocking details to Kim Kardashian’s internet-dividing Met Gala look, believe it or not. The SKIMS mogul, 43, caused a stir online for wearing a Maison Margiela corset that dramatically cinched her waist. The custom design was so tight and constricting that she needed assistance from attendees to make her way up the Metropolitan Museum of Art steps. But in a new behind-the-scenes video of her fitting for Vogue, Kardashian revealed a few more mind-blowing details of the dress that you didn't see on the red carpet. Kim Kardashian shocks fans in waist-cinching corset at 2024 Met Gala. Jamie McCarthy/Getty The video starts off with Kardashian breathing through her mouth while being sucked into the corset, which, according to the label, was rewoven with antique silver brocade. “It’s an art form, but I got it,” she says while the team laces her up. Despite the difficult breathwork it required, Kardashian says she loved the corset because it made her boobs and waist look “so good.” “I’ll feel so snatched, I won’t even be able to communicate to you how snatched I feel.” Kim Kardashian Shocks Again in Dramatically Tight Corset and Sheer Gown at 2024 Met Gala Another hidden element was the custom Maison Margiela thong Kardashian wore underneath her metal see-through skirt. She explained to Vogue that, since the lace-like overlay could lead to an exposing photo angle, designer John Galliano wanted to make sure she was “fully covered in the appropriate places” with matching underwear. And yet, there’s more... Kim Kardashian at the 2024 Met Gala. Cindy Ord/MG24/Getty Kardashian also wore gravity-defying shoes that were made with a thick clear sole, but no heels in order to avoid her skirt getting caught. "To wear these, you’re on your tiptoes and you’re balancing the whole time flexing your calf muscles,” she explains, comparing the movement to that of a ballerina. “I think we really need the height on this look, so we gotta do what we gotta do,” she adds. Kim Kardashian Explains 2024 Met Gala 'Boyfriend's Sweater' After Poking Fun at Tom Brady Dating Rumors Despite having many moving parts, Kardashian's look told a specific fairy tale that aligned with the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” theme. “Imagine having the best time of your entire life with your most magical person and you’re in a garden, you’ve overslept, you wake up after literally the best night of your life,” Kardashian tells Vogue. She noted that her controversial cardigan, meant to evoke the idea of running out the door and grabbing her “boyfriend’s sweater," was intentional. “It's like the real-life me when I go to an event and I have to make it home by 6 a.m. to get to carpool. Real life happens.” Never miss a story — sign up for PEOPLE's free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from juicy celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.
