During the first date of Bryan's Quittin Time Tour at Chicago’s United Center on Tuesday, Musgraves surprised the crowd by joining him on stage to perform their Grammy-winning, chart-topping collaboration "I Remember Everything." While Bryan, 27, has previously delivered solo renditions of the song in concert, the Chicago show marks the first time both artists have teamed up to sing the track. According to fan footage, Musgraves, 35, hit the stage in a white blouse and sheer black skirt, while Bryan sported denim and played acoustic guitar — and the crowd sang every word. "I Remember Everything" was released in August 2023 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 shortly afterward, marking both artists' first single to top the chart. Earlier this year, the collaboration won best country duo/group performance at the 2024 Grammy Awards. In a clip from her upcoming interview on Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist that premiered exclusively on PEOPLE this week, Musgraves revealed she recorded "I Remember Everything" while sick. "Like my throat was hurting. I had just gone on like this trip. And they were like, 'Well, we kind of have a deadline. Like, if you want to be on this song you kind of got to get it in by like, this day.'" Since it was in a few days, Musgraves decided to "give it a shot." "So like, I go to the studio, and I'm like, man, my voice is not cooperating. And I was like, 'I hope this doesn't really suck,'" she recalled. "But I left the studio, and I went to the doctor immediately and I had strep," she said. "And I like, texted like the engineer. I was like, 'I'm so sorry, I had strep, and I was just all up in your space.'" Kevin Mazur/Getty Because of her condition at the time of recording "I Remember Everything," Musgraves called the track "sick as f--- literally." (She made the same joke on Instagram when the song was released last August.) Ultimately, the "High Horse" singer was just pleased to work with Bryan because she loves the song. "I connected with him immediately, and I'm just grateful he asked me," Musgraves concluded. The full Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist interview airs March 10 on NBC. Close
