Kacey Musgraves' latest project is well, lit.

The singer-songwriter is letting it burn once a again with the launch of her "Deeper Well" candle with Boy Smells, her second collaboration with the beloved brand following 2020's hugely successful "Slow Burn" drop, which is still a best-seller.

Drawing inspiration from her new single of the same name, "Deeper Well" is all about a return to nature, its healing properties and finding peace in one's surroundings.

And to hear Musgraves tell it, the scent is also reflection of where she's at in her own life.

"It's definitely my most grounded time period yet. I'm 35 now, and I know myself better than in previous years, previous albums, and I just feel like I'm right where I need to be," the Grammy winner, whose fifth album drops March 15, tells PEOPLE. "I definitely think that the music and hopefully the scent will reflect that."

For Musgraves, turning her songs into scents is a way to offer her fans a "more 3D experience. "

"It's just really fun for me to think about taking something from a one song dimension and expanding it into other senses, like scent," she shares. "Songs are tied to memories, and scent is one of the main things that trigger memories for people. I think blending and creating a world where a song can have a life as a scent is so fun."

Musgraves and Boy Smells latest sound-to-scent interpretation, available now exclusively on BoySmells.com and kaceymusgraves.com, combines earthy notes like mushroom, beetroot, oakmoss and with the freshness of eucalyptus, raspberry, and lavender. In April, the $56 candle will launch in retail stores worldwide including Sephora, SpaceNK and Nordstrom.

"This scent is very airy, but it's also really grounded. It's like the sky, but it's also dirt. There's a lot of earth elements, but then there's a more posh gourmand perfume element to it too. It's somewhere in between feminine and masculine, but it's peaceful," Musgraves tells PEOPLE. "There's a calmness to it. There's a sweetness that reminds me of childhood in a way. But I also was inspired to create a scent that felt like you're hugging someone familiar that has just come in from outside, and you're smelling them, you're also smelling the outdoors and it's still on them. I feel like the scent really gives me that."

So where's the best place to light up? Musgraves sees her candle as a great excuse for some self-care.

"I'm thinking after a hard and long day, you come and you meditate, you take a hot bath and you burn 'Deeper Well,'" she shares.

For the Boy Smells team, collaborating once again with the singer not only felt organic, but was also "magical."

"We have nurtured this project for the past nine months, and it is finally time to share it with the world," co-founder Matthew Herman tells PEOPLE, adding that Deeper Well is the first time the grand did a deep dive into "very earthy natural nature scents."

"Kacey lives in the space of authenticity. She will lay her soul bare, even if it ruffles a few feathers. To me, she is genre-redefining," Herman says. "She also has great taste and is a joy to work with. Our partnership is purely organic. It is not like we are going through agents and handlers to work together. We text, send voice memos, and meet up to review the project whenever we are in the same city."

The feeling is totally mutual for Musgraves.

"Boy Smells is iconic," she tells PEOPLE. "They've cemented themselves in a beautiful way in pop culture. I think they just make really unique scents. They have fun with it. They don't take themselves too seriously, but they know their shit and the packaging is beautiful, which is obviously a bonus too."

As for her record looming, Musgraves said she "instantly" knew after recording "Deeper Well" that it was the title of her record.

"Ultimately, the song sums up where I'm at in my mid-30s and really evaluating what love means to me, what friendships mean to me, what are the things that I need, what is really important to me, what's serving me, what's not serving me, and taking stock of that and making room for the things that actually do really matter. This life is so short. I think that you have to be a little bit ruthless in removing obstacles for growth."
