Justine Skye is hard at work.

The actress and singer-songwriter is recording new music for her forthcoming, highly anticipated EP all while she was traversing the world for Fashion Month. Oh, and she also has a beauty partnership with Cetaphil that’s kicking off with a digital campaign. Though her days may be long, there’s something she never compromises on: her beauty routine.

“That's non-negotiable,” she tells PEOPLE. “Just, as a woman, self-care is so crucial. If you don't feel good, how are you supposed to go out into the world and be confident or do your job?”

For Skye, all it takes is “five products, max” every day to put her best face forward. “I feel like the older that I get, the more I am conscious about what I put on my skin.”

It’s that mindset that inspired her to align with Cetaphil, a brand she’s used since childhood. “It's such an honor to be a part of [a brand] that's so influential, actually cares about your skin, and is constantly reinventing itself.”

This fall, the brand is launching new serums, including a Vitamin C formula that’s become a must-have in her routine. And because of the growing social media trend toward skincare-stacking (a.k.a. leaning into a routine with multiple steps), Cetaphil is launching a campaign showcasing the importance of a simplified regimen. “It’s about finding the core products that work, and not straying from that,” Skye says.

There is one person who influences Skye’s routine, however: her mom. “She was always taking risks with her fashion and her beauty. As I get older, I find myself being like, ‘Mom, where's your lip liner? What do you do?’ Even my hair color, it's the color my mom had. And, she has a massive back tattoo, so when I got mine everyone was like ‘You're subconsciously [morphing] into your mom!’”

Serum

"Vitamin C wasn't a part of my routine for a very long time, then I saw a dermatologist who explained to me how important it is to add it to my routine. [I learned] it helps with brightening and protecting your skin, so it was a no-brainer. This one is hydrating, lightweight and doesn't have a scent."

Cleanser

Cetaphil Facial Skin Cleanser.

"My first memory of Cetaphil is sneaking into my mom's bathroom, seeing what she was using and wanting to use whatever she was using. Normally, my mom would be like, 'You can't use that,' but this was part of my morning and after-school routines. I thought I was doing something so fancy! But, maybe it's part of what makes my skin so great today, using this from such a young age. I feel like, when you're young, you don't pay attention to your skin at all. But in using this, I think I was setting myself up for success."
