The Jonas Brothers Share Their Favorite Concert Memories So Far — and the Road Trip Songs That Get Them Through Long Drives

Before the Jonas Brothers were selling out stadiums, Nick, Joe and Kevin were three kids from New Jersey trying to make it in the music business — and touring around in a van to perform for fans.

“Back when we were just starting out in 2005 and 2006, we would travel up and down the East Coast in our red 12-passenger van that pulled a trailer with all of our equipment. That was our baby; we spent thousands of hours in there,” eldest brother Kevin recalled to PEOPLE. “We turned one of the rows of seats around in the back of the van to face each other and play card games and hang out on the long drives. Lots of fond memories about those days.”

And though they might travel a bit more in style on their current tour (which kicked off at N.Y.C.'s Yankee Stadium in August), they never lost their taste for a road trip — which is why they are partnering with car-share service Turo to allow fans to book cars in their touring cities (including three owned by the brothers themselves!) and get a chance to meet them.

The trio took a break from The Tour to answer some of our questions about their favorite road trip moments — and the new memories they're making on tour with their fans.

Since kicking off The Tour in August, the Jonas Brothers have played more than 30 shows that encompass all five of their albums. Though it’s certainly not the first time the band has hit the road, this time feels different, Joe explained. 

“The most different thing about touring this time around is the amount of songs that we sing on stage and the overall length of the show – about 3 hours,” Joe said.  “It’s something like 57 songs, which is by far the longest setlist of our career.”

And after a career that has spanned nearly 20 years, not only have the three brothers grown and evolved, so have their fans. During this tour, videos have circulated online of touching interactions the brothers have had with concertgoers during the set.

“To get to speak to some of these fans during the shows and hear their stories, their journey with us listening to our music, hearing some of these incredible tales of how these albums have affected their lives ... it means so much to us,” Joe said. 

One particular standout, Kevin says, is that "there have been an immense amount of baby announcements during our song 'Little Bird,' which has been very special." (The song is about their daughters — they have five between them.)

To take these fan connections a step further, the band teamed up with Turo to give fans the chance to rent cars that are special to them. For the Oct. 14 show in Miami, Florida, Joe’s Escalade will be up for grabs, while for the Oct. 29 show in Anaheim, Nick’s Toyota Tundra is available and on December 9 for the band's stop in Brooklyn, Kevin’s Range Rover is on deck.

The winners will meet Nick, Joe or Kevin in their respective cities to pick up the keys and will receive two goodie bags and two VIP tickets for that city's show. The brothers told PEOPLE that working with the company felt like a “natural fit” as “some of our fondest memories have been made on the road and we’ve always had a love for cars.”

Nick recalled a memory with his truck from just earlier this year, when he and his brothers were gearing up for their residency in Las Vegas. 

“Earlier this year the three of us drove my truck from L.A. to Vegas to start our residency, while making stops for great meals and conversations along the way,” Nick said. 

Should you ever find yourself on a road trip with NIck to his ideal destination, Yosemite Natioinal Park, you'll be likely to hear his go-to drive song, “Born in the USA” by Bruce Springsteen.

“That was my idea! Nick stole it,” Joe joked, though he added he'd also be happy to listen to “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant” by Billy Joel on the drive. (Kevin will cue up “Life is a Highway" by Rascal Flatts.)
