Jessica Simpson is celebrating the latest milestone in her sobriety journey.

This month, Simpson, 43, marked six years of sobriety. The mother of three celebrated her milestone with an Instagram Story Thursday that linked to a Nov. 1, 2021 post with a Nov. 1, 2017 photo of Simpson.

"6 years ago," Simpson wrote.

The original post was in celebration of the singer’s fourth sober anniversary. The Dukes of Hazzard star is seen sitting with a sunbeam lighting up her face as she stares away from the camera in the photo.

“This person in the early morning of Nov 1, 2017 is an unrecognizable version of myself. I had so much self-discovery to unlock and explore," Simpson captioned the post.

“I knew in this very moment I would allow myself to take back my light, show victory over my internal battle of self-respect, and brave this world with piercing clarity," she continued, adding that to achieve those goals she “needed to stop drinking alcohol.”

Simpson confessed in the caption, “The drinking wasn’t the issue. I was. I didn’t love myself. I didn’t respect my own power.” Four years into her journey, she celebrated how she was able to make “nice with the fears."

“I own my personal power with soulful courage," she concluded in 2021. "I am wildly honest and comfortably open. I am free.”

In addition to sharing her Instagram Story today, Simpson also posted a photo with her daughter, Maxi Drew. "Choose to be kind today because you never know how much someone might need it 💚💚💚," she wrote.

Last year, when Simpson celebrated five years of sobriety, she shared, "I am capable of pretty much anything I care enough about to put my mind to. I am present. I am deeply inspired. I am determined. I am honest. I care about other people."

She continued to encourage others not to give up on themselves and to stay true to themselves. "It has worked for me in this chaotic life thus far. Nothin' and nobody will rob me of my joy. Ya might come close but it is mine to own. Yours should be too," concluded Simpson.

In Simpson’s 2020 memoir Open Book, the star recalled the moment she knew she needed to cut her alcohol intake. She shared that after a couple of drinks while at a Halloween party, she zoned out and was unable to dress her kids — Maxwell "Maxi" Drew, 11, Ace Knute, 10, and Birdie Mae, 4.

"I was terrified of letting them see me in that shape," Simpson wrote at the time. "I am ashamed to say that I don't know who got them into their costumes that night."

That evening, she took an Ambien to help her sleep. The next morning, she wrote, "I slept in, afraid to see them, afraid I had failed them. I hid until they left, then drank."

Simpson's close circle of friends came over, and she told them, "I need to stop. Something's got to stop. And if it's alcohol that's doing this and making things worse, then I quit."
