JAY-Z is giving an inside look at how he and wife Beyoncé named their first born.

In the second part of his interview with Gayle King for CBS Mornings, the rapper, 53, revealed that his 11-year-old daughter wasn't initially going to be named Blue Ivy. "It was supposed to be Brooklyn," the father of three told King, 68, referencing his native neighborhood.

But things changed throughout Beyoncé's pregnancy. "We was calling her Blueberry. Like, 'Look at the little blueberry.' You know, it was like a nickname," he remembers. "It was just natural. We just took the berry off and called her Blue."

The "Empire State of Mind" rapper and his wife of 15 years, Beyoncé, share daughter Blue Ivy and twins Rumi and Sir, 6.

In the first part of his interview with King, JAY-Z revealed that despite some early resistance, Blue has finally started coming around on her cool dad, even looking to him for style advice.

“She used to be frontin’ on me a little bit,” the rapper told King when asked if the preteen thinks he's cool. “But [now] I catch her. I catch her in the corner, you know? Now she asks me, you know, if this is cool, if her sneakers [are cool].”

King then clarified, “She wants your advice?” to which the mogul responded, “Yeah, yeah, yeah.”

This past summer, Blue joined her mom onstage for several stops of her Renaissance World Tour, dancing during two of the superstar’s numbers — "My Power" and "Black Parade."

After her daughter's first performance in Paris in May, the "Halo" singer shared how proud she was of Blue in a sweet Instagram post.

"My beautiful first born 🙏🏾 I'm so proud and thankful to be your mama," the proud mom captioned the post. "You bring us so much joy, my sweet angel."

Beyoncé's post also featured videos of Blue flawlessly executing dance moves alongside her backup dancers.

Blue also received praise from her mom at the show. “Give it up for Blue,” Beyoncé told the crowd before breaking into applause.
