The rap superstar, 24, officially confirmed her debut album is nearly done and that it won’t be much longer before fans get to hear it during an appearance on Tuesday’s episode of TODAY. “Yes, there’s going to be an album this year,” the Grammy-nominated artist responded with excitement and a huge smile on her face when hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager asked if there was going to be an album “soon.” The “Munch” rapper confirmed that it would be out “this year” and also unveiled the title. “I’m so excited. While fans may suspect it harkens back to the “Princess Diana” artist’s early 2000s-inspired style, she shared that she actually has a special connection to Y2K itself. “I was [born on Y2K] and that’s why I decided to name it that,” the hip-hop star revealed, referring to her birthdate of Jan. 1, 2000. Although Ice Spice said that she couldn’t tease too much else at this time, she did admit that “of course” there would be collaborations on the record. “I have a crazy collaboration that just got locked in, like, two days ago,” she said while playfully rolling her Rs on “crazy” for emphasis. At the time, Ice Spice posted a photo on Instagram highlighting her new lower back tattoo as she smiled over her shoulder and in the caption she added, “Y2K! ?/?/24.” Y2K will be the rapper’s official debut LP. Although she’s ascended to rap superstardom since going viral with the track “Munch (Feelin’ U)” in 2022 and dropped projects like her 2023 EP Like..?, featuring hits like “Gangsta Boo” and “In Ha Mood,” she has not released a full-length album. Ice Spice Faces Copyright Infringement Lawsuit over 'In Ha Mood' Last week saw the arrival of the single “Think U The S--- (Fart)” and its accompanying music video, which follows the star and a group of her friends during a Miami vacation rendezvous. The track — which features a funky beat along with Bronx talent's signature drill sound and quip-filled lyricism — went viral ahead of its release. Several weeks before the song dropped, the hip-hop star shared a snippet of the track and its hilarious chorus (“Think you the s---, bitch? / You not even the fart”) on Instagram at the time, along with a meme of the Nintendo character Mario. Ice Spice is currently up for her first-ever Grammys, including the coveted best new artist award.
