People Editorial Guidelines Updated on December 1, 2020 01:42PM EST Kourtney Kardashian will pass on the reindeer carpaccio, thank you. The reality star, 37, just debuted a personal travel guide to Iceland on her site, sharing favorite experiences, hotels, restaurants and insider tips for traveling like a Kardashian. Kourtney and her travel companions — including Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West, and friends Simon Huck, Stephanie Sheppard, Nicole Reda and Jonathan Cheban — jetted off to the Nordic isle back in April to celebrate Kourtney’s birthday. The trip was originally Kim and Kanye’s idea, but, as Kourtney explains in her post, she had always wanted to visit the country, and just needed a well-timed nudge. Kylie Jenner Shares the Thing She Misses Most When She’s Away from Home Kourtney shares that she loved exploring the many natural wonders of the rather extreme Icelandic landscape. “We checked out the blue lagoon one night, which was so incredibly beautiful. We also saw geysers and the Gullfoss waterfall,” she says. The group took a helicopter ride to a glacier, as well, though the famed Northern Lights they were hunting eluded them. Back in civilization, the Kardashian klan explored the capital city of Reykjavik, where Kourtney points out the Hallgrímskirkja Church is not to be missed and shares a personal travel tip: “One of my favorite things to do when visiting new cities is going into local churches. The top of the church had a view of all of Reykjavik.” Johnny Depp Relists (and Doubles the Asking Price!) of His Huge French Estate Source: Kourtney Kardashian/Instagram Getting into the nitty gritty, Kourtney recommends some stylish hotels: “Staying at Hotel Rangá was so much fun! Each room is decorated like a different country, so it was fun to visit everyone’s room and see what part of the world they were staying in.” The group also shacked up at Reykjavik’s 101 Hotel, which Kourtney describes as “a small, chic boutique hotel right in the middle of the city’s action.” WATCH THIS: Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Jet Off on a Trip to Iceland with Kourtney and Jonathan Cheban The aforementioned reindeer carpaccio incident took place at Grillmarkaðurinn, a farm-to-table restaurant specializing in unique Icelandic cuisine. “Jonathan was the most adventurous in trying the local foods—like horse, reindeer carpaccio and whale,” Kourtney reveals. “The rest of us definitely didn’t do all that.” She also gives a nod to Friðheimar, “an organic tomato farm in South Iceland,” and Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur, “a world-famous hot dog stand.” Source: Kourtney Kardashian/Instagram There’s no doubt the birthday girl was charmed (and admittedly, a little chilled) by her Icelandic adventure. She sums it up: “I’ll never forget this trip. Truly, what an unforgettable experience.” Close
