Lauren Sánchez is giving “helicopter mom” a whole new meaning.

The award-winning journalist, 54, posted an Instagram video on Thursday, Aug. 8, flying her son Nikko Gonzalez, 23, and Orlando Bloom in a helicopter so the pair could skydive together.

Sánchez shares her eldest child with ex-boyfriend NFL tight end Tony Gonzalez. She also shares son, Evan, 17 and daughter, Ella, 16, with ex-husband Patrick Whitesell.

In Sánchez’s video, she pilots the aircraft while Gonzalez and Bloom, 47, sit behind her seat. It begins with her giving the camera a nice smile before takeoff, and then once in the air, she shares another selfie angle of her son crouching behind her.

The mother of three added another clip of Gonzalez and Bloom chatting amongst themselves while suited up for the skydiving excursion. The final clip of her short montage is of the two men preparing for their jump with a fist bump before they hit the skies.

Sánchez also added music to accompany her post. She used Bloom’s girlfriend Katy Perry’s latest single, “Lifetimes.”

“I guess you could call me a helicopter mom,” she cheekily captioned the post.

Several friends and followers commented on the trio’s fearless outing, including Gonzalez’s stepmother, October (Tobie) Gonzalez, who simply wrote, “Omg, lol.”

Kris Jenner added, “🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.”

Earlier this summer, Sánchez posted a video to Instagram documenting her flying a helicopter over the ocean. At the time she wrote in her caption: “‘The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity.’ - Amelia Earhart.”

“Every flight teaches me to embrace the journey and stay resilient. The sky isn’t the limit; it’s just the beginning. 🚁," she added.

In January, Sánchez received a special honor from the aviation community. At the 21st Annual Living Legends of Aviation Awards, she received the Elling Halvorson Vertical Flight Hall of Fame Award for her expertise as a helicopter pilot and aviation businesswoman.

Sánchez signed up for classes at a flight school in Los Angeles in hopes of getting her helicopter pilot's license. Then in 2016, she became one of the first women to own and operate an aerial film and production company with Black Ops Aviation.
