Jamie Foxx is in good hands and recovering.

The Academy Award winner's daughter, Corinne Foxx, issued a statement on Instagram on April 12, 2023, revealing that the actor is on the mend after facing a "medical complication" the day prior.

"We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday," shared Corinne in a statement written on behalf of the Foxx family.

"Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers," the statement read. "The family asks for privacy during this time."

Jamie, who's set to star in the upcoming movie Back In Action opposite Cameron Diaz, has received a plethora of well wishes from fans, friends and family since news of his health complication was made public.

Stars including Kerry Washington and LeBron James took to social media to post tributes to the actor, penning sweet sentiments and words of encouragement as he heals. Additionally, other celebrities close to Jamie, including Martin Lawrence, have shared updates on the his recovery.

Although Jamie was last publicly seen filming Back in Action days before Corinne shared the news of his health scare, PEOPLE confirmed that the Oscar winner's incident did not happen while he was on set, and he was not transported to the hospital by an emergency vehicle.

On May 3, Jamie broke his silence on the topic for the first time since news of his health concern was made public. He took to Instagram to share an update and thank his followers for their support.

Shortly after, his daughter gave another update on Foxx's health, revealing that he's out of the hospital and "recuperating." Since then, Foxx has been seen playing pickleball and golfing in Chicago. According to a source, the actor even held a party to celebrate his recovery.

April 12, 2023: Jamie Foxx's film Back in Action halts production

A source told PEOPLE that Back in Action's set was "shut down" the same day Corinne shared the news of Jamie's health scare on April 12. Filming resumed on April 13 using a stand-in for Jamie on set, the source said. Other scheduling reconfigurations were made after the actor experienced a medical complication.

April 13, 2023: Kerry Washington sends love to her 'movie huzbin'

Washington paid tribute to Jamie as he recovers from the mysterious health scare. The actress shared on Instagram a sweet throwback photo of her resting her head on her Ray costar.

James sent his prayers to Jamie amid the actor's health scare via Twitter. The Los Angeles Lakers player wrote, "Sending my thoughts and prayers to the heavens above to my brother @iamjamiefoxx!!!! Get well and back to yourself SOONER THAN LATER! God willing."

Jennifer Hudson chimed in with a post, sharing a photo of her Dreamgirls costar with a heartfelt caption. "Lifting my friend @iamjamiefoxx and the Foxx family up in prayer !" the actress and singer said, adding, "We pray for healing in Jesus' name! Sending u all the love in the world, Jamie!!!"

Few details have been disclosed regarding Jamie's mysterious medical complication, but the updates since have been positive. A source told PEOPLE on April 14 that the Day Shift actor is steadily improving.

April 17, 2023: Jamie Foxx remains hospitalized, per reports

PEOPLE confirmed that Jamie was still in a Georgia medical facility on April 17, as he was still under medical observation. "They are running tests and still trying to figure out what exactly happened," a source told CNN of Jamie's health scare.

April 17, 2023: Cameron Diaz returns to filming Back in Action, without Jamie Foxx

Diaz returned to the set of her Netflix film Back in Action on April 17. The actress was seen on the movie's Atlanta set laughing and joking with her stunt double and castmates.

Two doubles were also seen standing in for Jamie, one stunt double and a second individual who served as a photo double.

April 20, 2023: Martin Lawrence says Jamie Foxx is 'doing better'

May 3, 2023: Kevin Hart gives positive update on Jamie Foxx's health

Kevin Hart appeared on an episode of the Impaulsive podcast, where he spoke about the status of Foxx's health. He expressed that his "love, synergy, energy" goes out to Foxx, as he is someone who is "needed" and "necessary."

"I think the dope thing is that he's getting better in his situation, and everybody's prayers, everybody's love, energy, all that stuff is seen and felt," Hart shared with hosts Logan Paul and Mike Majlak.

"I don't know the details or the exact details as to what's going on, but to my knowledge, there's a lot of progression and a world of better," he added. "I know that he knows that, and I know that he feels that because there's been an outcry and outpour in his regard, and I can only hope that it continue."

May 3, 2023: FOX announces that Jamie Foxx will not host the new season of Beat Shazam

FOX confirmed that Foxx will be replaced by Nick Cannon to temporarily host the upcoming season of Beat Shazam, while Kelly Osbourne will assume Corinne's role on the musical game show for the time being.

"Beat Shazam has been an unscripted mainstay on the FOX schedule for six seasons and counting," the network wrote in a post on Instagram.

"This season, not wanting fans of the game show to miss a minute of the fun, Nick Cannon has offered to fill in as guest host for his friends, Jamie and Corinne Fox. Kelly Osbourne will be filling in as guest DJ."

May 5, 2023: Natasha Blasick says she's been assured Jamie Foxx is 'recovering'

At the John Ritter Foundation's annual An Evening From the Heart fundraiser, Natasha Blasick — who worked with Foxx on a film titled All-Star Weekend — told Entertainment Tonight that a friend of the actor's recently told her that Foxx is "recovering."

"I was texting him, and just yesterday I talked to his friend, who's like really in touch with him. I was, like, really freaking out [with] all of the news that he's getting worse," Blasick told the outlet. "So I was texting [his friend], and he's like, 'No, no, no, he's recovering.'"

"So just hearing that he was recovering made me feel so much better," she continued, sharing that she is "just praying" for Foxx's continued recovery.

"And my friend yesterday reached out to me, and she's like, 'Let's pray together,' " Blasick told the outlet. "I mean, it's really crazy. All we have in this world is our health. Our life. So it's very scary."

May 5, 2023: Source says Jamie Foxx is not in a 'life-threatening situation' anymore

A source in the actor's circle shared with PEOPLE that they were told "Jamie is stable and not in a life-threatening situation now."

"[Doctors] are doing more tests and want to be completely sure that he will be okay before allowing him to" leave the hospital, the insider said, adding that Foxx is being advised to "keep his stress level down," when he is discharged.

The source told PEOPLE that the hospital is "the last place Jamie wants to be" despite his need for medical care.

"He has a lot of projects going on," the insider added. "He gets things done; he is focused and astute. What happened to him medically is serious enough to keep him in the hospital."

May 12, 2023: Jamie Foxx' friends ask their followers to pray

One week after a source in the actor's circle told PEOPLE that they were told "Jamie is stable and not in a life-threatening situation now," a number of celebrities took to social media to voice their thoughts and prayers for Foxx.

"Man, prayin for Jamie Foxx," musician and actor Kid Cudi wrote on Twitter. Meanwhile, Tyler The Creator shared a now-deleted video to his Instagram Story re-sharing a fan account's video of Foxx performing his 1994 song "Infatuation" and wrote that he was "sending love to" the actor and musician.

Actor James Woods, who costarred with Foxx in the 2013 action movie White House Down, recently shared a story on Twitter saying he came to know Foxx "for for the kind and caring man he is."

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons wrote on Twitter: "Please God protect one our black heroes!! Please everyone send a prayer!!" Parsons added in his post, "Can't lose a great father, brother, son and too many of us an hero!!"

Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III asked his Twitter followers to "please send a prayer up for Jamie Foxx and his family." He added, "He is much more than a talented actor, comedian and musician."

May 12, 2023: Jamie Foxx's daughter says he's 'been out of the hospital for weeks'

Following rumors about the status of Foxx's health, his daughter Corinne shared an update on social media, revealing he's out of the hospital.

"Update from the family: Sad to see how the media runs wild. My Dad has been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating," wrote Corinne on her Instagram Story Friday, sharing a report that claimed the family was preparing for "the worst."

May 15, 2023: Fox announces Jamie Foxx's return to TV

FOX announced on May 15 that Foxx and his daughter Corinne will host a new musical game show called We Are Family, marking the first new project that stars the actor since news of his health scare in early April. The series, similar to The Masked Singer, is expected to debut in 2024.

We Are Family is a music guessing game that will feature one celebrity every episode alongside a non-famous relative. But there's a twist: the featured star will be hidden until their identity can be guessed. Up to $100,000 on the line for the studio audience, whose job is to sniff out the celeb based on the clues.

This isn't the first music-based show for the father-daughter team. They're currently the hosts of FOX's Beat Shazam, where contestants have to guess a song correctly to add money to their prize pot.

June 2023: Jamie Foxx's costars continue to share updates on his health

While promoting Transformers: Rise of the Beasts in May, Foxx's Project Power costar Dominique Fishback shared that she was very happy the actor was doing better after his health scare. "I always just think that Jamie Foxx is superhuman. So it's almost like, if I didn't hear it from somebody close, I didn't really pay any attention to it," she told PEOPLE. "I'm just so happy that he is doing well."

During They Cloned Tyrone's premiere in June at the American Black Film Festival in Miami Beach, Florida, John Boyega and Teyonah Parris expressed well wishes for Foxx. "I wish Jamie all the recovery and healing. He's just so amazing," Parris told Entertainment Tonight. "It was just such an honor to work with him."

TMZ published a video of Foxx on a boat traveling along the Chicago River. The clip marked the actor's first public sighting since his health scare.

Foxx proved that he's back in action when he shared a photo of himself wearing a dark suit, sitting on a black and gold Formula 1 race car.

July 22, 2023: Jamie Foxx talks about his medical scare in an Instagram video

Foxx opened up about his medical scare for the first time in a video he shared on Instagram.

In the clip, he thanked fans for their prayers. "I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back," the actor said of his fans' support.

He also dispelled some rumors about his health. "Now, you know, by being quiet sometimes things get out of hand," he said. "People saying what I got, some people said I was blind, but as you can see ... the eyes are working just fine. Said I'm paralyzed — I'm not paralyzed."
