Hailey Bieber Confirms Engagement Ring Upgrade from Justin Bieber: '1 Carat Bigger'

Hailey Bieber is opening up about her engagement ring upgrade.

In a cover story for W Magazine published on Tuesday, July 23, the 27-year-old model said she "didn't want to talk about" her new bling but ultimately felt the need to squash rumors about the stone's size.

“Actually, this is only one carat bigger. It’s just elongated,” the mom-to-be told the outlet. “They’re going off with their own stories about it. I don’t like it. I didn’t want to talk about it."

Fans noticed the upgraded ring, designed by Lorraine Schwartz, in an Instagram post the Rhode founder shared in May. The last photo in the carousel gave a close-up look at her fresh manicure as well as some seemingly new additions to her jewelry collection — including a massive oval diamond that's bigger than the one her husband Justin Bieber proposed with in 2018.

"Little cherry blossoms on my nails little cherry blossom in my belly 🥟🥟🌸" Hailey captioned the photoset, which some fans also speculated to be a hint at her baby's gender.

A post from Hailey's nail artist Zola Ganzorigt offered a better view of the model's jewelry stack. On her right hand, she wears what looks like her previous engagement ring on her pinky and a large B-shaped piece on her ring finger. On the left hand, she has some diamond rings on her pinky, and on her ring finger, a large oval-shaped diamond and diamond band.

Her original engagement ring is a solitaire stone set on a simple gold band. The piece was custom designed by jeweler Jack Solow from Solow & Co., who previously told PEOPLE that Justin had “a hand in selecting the diamond” and put a lot of thought into the ring design.

The couple tied the knot in September 2018, at a courthouse in New York City and later held a larger ceremony in front of family and friends at the Montage Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, S.C.

On Thursday, May 9, Hailey and Justin, 30, revealed they were expecting their first baby. In the announcement post, they shared snaps from their vow renewal in Kilauea, Hawaii, which was held the day before. For the celebration, the parents-to-be both wore Tiffany Forever bands made of platinum with a full circle of diamonds.

In her interview with W, Hailey explained that she and Justin waited until she was six months pregnant to share the news publicly because she "didn’t enjoy the stress of not being able to enjoy my pregnancy outwardly."

“I probably could have hid it until the end,” the model said.

"I felt like I was hiding this big secret, and it didn’t feel good," Hailey added. "I wanted the freedom to go out and live my life.”
