What a Shopping Editor Is Eyeing from Google’s Impressive Gift Guide This Year

Gift guide season is in full swing. As a shopping editor, it’s one of my favorite times of the year because I get to sort through all of the products we’ve tested and recommend ones that I know are going to spark smiles. I’m always curious to see what gifts other sites and celebrities recommend (looking at you, Oprah’s Favorite Things), and I have to say: I was blown away by today’s release of the Google Holiday 100 list.

There are tried-and-true giftable items like Birkenstock sandals, trending home décor products such as a portable mid century mushroom lamp, and even some odd-but-giftable picks like this candle warmer.

To create this list of 100 giftable items, Google analyzes search data from June to September. It uses Google Trends to identify items that were highly searched, newly searched, or trending for a period of time. Basically, there’s no hidden agenda — these are simply things that a lot of people were looking to buy this year.

The Everywhere Belt Bag from Lululemon lives up to its name: We’ve seen this bag pop up, well, everywhere this year. Celebrities like Cameron Diaz and Kate Hudson have been spotted with belt bags this season, and Camila Cabello walked the streets of New York with this exact Lululemon belt bag. This would make a great under-$50 gift for your celebrity-obsessed friend who’s looking for a hands-free option.

Oxo Good Grips 14-Piece Cookie Press Set

Holiday cookie baking is a long-standing tradition in my home, but with two toddlers begging to “help” make Santa’s cookies, it gets a little messy. That’s why this cookie press set from Oxo is a genius invention. You just load in your dough of choice — I’m eyeing Reba McEntire’s cookie recipe — and squeeze out uniquely shaped cookies. 

Squishmallows Bluey

To be honest, I have no idea why squishmallows are so popular, but I don’t make the trends, I just report on them. This particular squishmallow combines two kid-loved things of the moment: the show Bluey and the plush toy. This $10 gift will be a hit with lots of kids during the holiday season.

Tlinna Eye Massager

This was one of my favorite things on the Google Holiday 100 list. It combines “airbag rubbing,” vibrations, and a heated compress to soothe and gently massage the area around your eyes. I’d be willing to pay close to $100 for this self-care gadget, but at only $30, it’s an easy add-to-cart gift.

Hoofun Electric Spin Scrubber

Electric spin scrubbers were some of the most bought items during Amazon’s October Prime Day, so it’s safe to say that spin scrubbers will also be a popular buy during the holiday season. Tackle dirt and grime before hosting holiday guests, or gift this to your partner as a not-so-subtle hint that it’s their turn to deep clean the bathroom.

Calming donut beds aren’t just for dogs. Humans deserve to snuggle up on a giant plush bed, too! My chihuahua has this Bedsure Donut Bed, and the thought of twinning with my dog in my own human-sized version fills me with so much joy. This is definitely going on my holiday shopping list.

I received a sample of the Cadence Capsule Set when it was first released, and it has become one of my favorite travel essentials. I use it to store face serum, lotion, eye cream, jewelry, medicine — you name it, and I likely have a Cadence capsule for it. It’s easy to add to any set you already own, but these also make great gifts for your travel-loving friends.

Movie projectors can be expensive, but this mini projector is about half the price of larger models, and its compact size means you can move it from a family room to a patio without any trouble. This would be a fun, new way to enjoy date night or up your slumber party game.
