The frequent costars play rival fixers hired for the same job in the new film, directed by Jon Watts. The two "lone wolves" have to "cover up a high-profile crime," a synopsis teases. But when they are "forced to work together, they find their night spiraling out of control in ways that neither one of them expected." In a clip shared exclusively with PEOPLE, Clooney, 63, and Pitt, 60, have a back-and-forth while questioning Amy Ryan's character and butting heads on their approach to the task at hand. The costars and real-life pals recently told GQ about their shared "competitive nature" and how "talking s--- between takes" helps their onscreen banter, according to Pitt. Said Clooney, "There’s a very interesting thing that happens when you’ve been working together a long time where, I don’t have to be looking even near him to know what he’s doing and have some idea of what’s going on. And there’s a great ease to that and confidence where you just go, 'Oh yeah, I know what he’s going to do.'
