Lifestyle Home Celebrity Home Tours Watch Christina Hall Face Her Toughest Clients — Her Parents! — in New Christina on the Coast (Exclusive) "Having done hundreds of houses, it is hard for me to hear that I don’t get to take down walls," Halls tells her parents while visibly taken aback By Raven Brunner Updated on June 13, 2024 10:20AM EDT Christina Hall’s latest clients are giving her a hard time. In an exclusive first look at the upcoming fifth season of Christina on the Coast, premiering July 11 on HGTV, the designer, 40, consults with her parents about their home makeover. At the start of the clip above, she's asked: "Do you regret taking on your parents as clients?" She replies with a hesitant smile, "Not yet." Hall is shown voicing her ideas as she walks through her parents’ home, but here mom and dad aren't shy about giving their two cents either. And unlike most of her clients on the series, they don't particularly align with their daughter's creative vision. Nick Agro/HGTV "I’d love to open up the wall right here," Christina says as the camera pans around a dining area with a large wooden china cabinet. "Or you could push this wall out. We could do some really cool bi-fold doors like everyone’s doing nowadays and that would be about $175,000," she explains. Her father, Paul Haack, doesn’t appear too impressed by her pitch. "I lose part of my backyard," he begins to say as Hall cuts him off and points out that the construction would only affect the hedges bordering the tall kitchen windows. "But I have hedges and things. And it’s going to look pretty bleak, I think," her father continues. Hall’s mother, Laurie Haack, chimes in: "And we’d have to replace the floor" "That’s a big deal," her father agrees. "I think for now, we should keep it simpler," Laurie says. "Having done hundreds of houses, it is hard for me to hear that I don’t get to take down walls. Obviously I’m going to do whatever you guys want to do, you guys are the client," Halls tells her parents, though she's clearly disappointed. Christina Hall. Allen Berezovsky/Getty In February, the TV host opened up to Parade about her parents starring in the fifth season of her show and called them her "toughest" clients. "I'm actually doing my parents' house this season," Hall told the outlet. "That's a good one. And they didn't follow my advice, so that was fun." Hall gave another peek at the renovation on Instagram, earlier that month, where she shared a photo with her parents and revealed that she was "finally" replacing their kitchen cabinets from the 1970s. Christina Hall/Instagram "I know I know, how have they not asked for me to redo their kitchen before?! Well… the 1970s cabinets held up well and as my dad says ‘your generation is so wasteful’ 🤣 touché.. and they like to spend their time & money on travel as opposed to their daughter who loves to constantly renovate," she wrote in the caption. The new season will feature 11 episodes and follow Hall's professional ventures and her personal life at home with Josh and her three kids: daughter Taylor, 13, and son Brayden, 8, whom she shares with her first husband and former Flip or Flop co-star Tarek El Moussa, and son Hudson, 4, whom she shares with her second husband Ant Anstead. In addition to starring in Christina on the Coast and her Nashville-based spinoff Christina in the Country, Hall is also reuniting with Tarek for the upcoming HGTV competition series, The Flip Off. That show, expected to air in early 2025, will see Hall and her current husband, realtor Josh Hall, competing against Tarek and his wife, Selling Sunset alum Heather El Moussa. A release from the network states that the two couples will "throw down" to see who can "find, buy, renovate and flip a house for the biggest financial gain."
