Chris Evans and Alba Baptista 'Got Serious Very Quickly': 'He Knew She Was the One' (Source Exclusive)

Chris Evans knew he'd found the one with Alba Baptista.

A source close to the Captain America actor, 42, tells PEOPLE that "it was kind of love at first sight" for Evans, who tied the knot with the Portuguese actress during a ceremony at a private estate in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, on Saturday.

"They got serious very quickly," says the source, noting that Evans first met Baptista, 26, in Europe. "He kept saying he knew she was the one."

According to the source, Evans "has been the happiest since they met," and she is "everything to him."

"He has been ready to settle down for a while," says the source. "He can’t wait to have a family. He was just waiting for the right girl."

"She is beautiful, smart and just a good person," the source adds. "She is involved in charity work and truly cares about doing good. She is a very positive and happy person. It’s rubbed off on him. It's the best news that they are married."

Reps for both actors have not responded to PEOPLE's requests for comment.

PEOPLE previoudly confirmed that the current Sexiest Man Alive and Baptista had been dating "for over a year and it's serious" in November 2022.

A source added at the time, "They are in love and Chris has never been happier. His family and friends all adore her."

Many of the couple's famous friends were spotted in nearby Boston for the wedding, including the groom's Marvel costars Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson (with husband Colin Jost), Robert Downey Jr. (with wife Susan Downey) and Chris Hemsworth (with wife Elsa Pataky), plus John Krasinski and Emily Blunt.

Hemsworth, 40, Downey, 58, their wives and Renner, 52, were photographed dining and chatting at the Contessa restaurant in the Newbury Boston hotel on Saturday. That night, friends and family celebrated the wedding with a party at Evans's Boston-area home

Krasinski, 43, and Blunt, 40, were seen returning from the festivities soon after midnight on Saturday, a source told PEOPLE: "They were very happy, joking and smiling."

In his Sexiest Man Alive interview last year, Evans told PEOPLE he was feeling "very content" with life and was focused on his work-life balance and spending time with his loved ones. Added the Knives Out actor at the time, "That's absolutely something I want: wife, kids, building a family."
