Entertainment Music Country Music This Doo-Wop Cover of Pitbull and Ke$ha's 'Timber' Is Awesome A cover so good it will make you forget the original (almost) By Melissa Locker Published on February 7, 2014 11:00AM EST Photo: Courtesy ScottBradleeLovesYa Ke$ha and Pitbull’s smash hit “Timber” topped the Billboard charts for three weeks in January, but you’ve never heard it like this before. Postmodern Jukebox has given the pop track a doo-wop makeover that will send you back to a time when Ke$ha was just a piece of glitter in her mother’s eye. The cover band has built a following by putting a retro spin on modern hits like “We Can t Stop” and “Blurred Lines.” While its other songs are good, this version of “Timber” – arranged by Scott Bradlee and sung by lead singer Robyn Adele Anderson with backing vocals by the Tee Tones – is positively transporting. Anderson manages to sing both Ke$ha’s and Pitbull’s parts with vintage style and classic aplomb, and the result will make you forget that the song is a cover.
