The 22-year-old basketball phenom sat in the stands for the Butler's men's basketball season opener in Indianapolis, Indiana on Mon. Nov. 4 to support McCaffery, who accepted an assistant coaching position at the university in September. Clark kept her look simple with a black sweater and bomber jacket at the Hinkle Fieldhouse, where the Butler Bulldogs play. The Indiana Fever star may have even served as a good luck charm for McCaffery as the Bulldogs pulled out a win on opening night, defeating the Missouri State Bears 72-65. The former Iowa Hawkeye — who met Clark when they were both student-athletes at the school — was serving as a team assistant for the Pacers when Clark was drafted to the Fever. Although McCaffery no longer works in the Gainbridge Fieldhouse (where both the Pacers and Fever play), he'll still be close by at Butler in Indianapolis. The WNBA star excitedly shared the news on her Instagram Stories, writing, "Yayyy!!! So happy for you 🤍,” alongside the official post from Butler. The school shared the news in a statement on their athletics website. "Following a high-level playing career, Connor has had the opportunity to both contribute and learn alongside one of the best staffs in the NBA," Butler head coach Thad Matta said in the release. "Those experiences will be very valuable to our staff. He obviously comes from a basketball family that I know very well and I'm excited for the impact he is going to have on our program both quickly and in the long run." All About Connor McCaffery Clark and McCaffery started dating in April 2023 but didn't make their relationship public until four months later when the WNBA star posted a photo with him on her Instagram, captioned, "Best end to summer." The post included an adorable shot of the couple cuddled up to each other on a boat. Clark is currently in her first WNBA offseason after a stellar rookie season that ended with her being named both the league's and the Associated Press's 2024 rookie of the year. She averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists (a WNBA high, per the league), 5.7 rebounds and 1.33 steals this season. Close
