A four-year-old Canadian boy is still hospitalized one month after he was mauled by a dog in his neighborhood.

Declan MacDonell, 4, suffered serious injuries in the Oct. 8 attack, according to the Northumberland News.

The boy was rushed to Northumberland Hills Hospital and later transported to SickKids hospital in Toronto for nine hours of emergency surgery, the Northumberland News reported.

“Declan continues to be a brave little fighter flanked by his incredible parents,” states a GoFundMe page set up to help his parents with hospital-related expenses.

“We all continue to be so grateful for your support, it continues to make an incredibly positive impact," the post read. "We are all still processing, with shock and horror, the gravity and weight of this all."
