Entertainment Awards Shows and Events Academy Awards Will They Win Oscars? 7 Stars Who've Swept Awards Season So Far These stars have managed to win big at all of the major awards shows this year By Stephanie Sengwe Published on March 10, 2024 01:30PM EDT Robert Downey Jr. and Da'Vine Joy Randolph. Photo: Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty; David Fisher/Shutterstock Every year, awards season brings out the who's who of the entertainment industry. Actors from blockbuster films, independent shorts and the hit TV shows that bring us joy congregate and receive top honors. And though it's always an honor to be nominated — especially given the high caliber of performances in some of 2023's biggest hits — some actors deliver work so riveting, the press, critics and colleagues and fans agree they should take home the top honor, again and again. From Robert Downey Jr. to Da'Vine Joy Randolph, see the actors who've won every major award they were nominated for this year — so far! 01 of 07 Robert Downey Jr., 'Oppenheimer' Robert Downey Jr. Steve Granitz/FilmMagic Last summer, Robert Downey Jr. proudly declared that Oppenheimer "is the best film I've been in," and his commitment to the work clearly showed. For his powerful performance as Oppenheimer's ally-turned-enemy Lewis Strauss in the Christopher Nolan film, Downey has won all three major awards he was nominated for. Near the start of his acceptance speech at the SAG Awards, Downey joked, "Unlike my fellow nominees, I will never grow tired from the sound of my own voice," alluding to the number of speeches he's given this season. At the March 10 Oscars, he'll be up against Sterling K. Brown for American Fiction, Robert De Niro for Killers of the Flower Moon, Ryan Gosling for Barbie and Mark Ruffalo for Poor Things. 02 of 07 Cillian Murphy, 'Oppenheimer' Cillian Murphy. Steve Granitz/FilmMagic Helming one of the biggest blockbusters of 2023 was Cillian Murphy, who delivered a subtle yet poignant performance as J. Robert Oppenheimer in the biopic about the revolutionary scientist. For his efforts, the Irish actor has also swept awards season, winning not just the Golden Globe and SAG Awards for lead actor, but also the BAFTA for the same category. At the Oscars, he's going head-to-head with Bradley Cooper of Maestro, Colman Domingo of Rustin, Paul Giamatti of The Holdovers and Jeffrey Wright of American Fiction. 03 of 07 Da'Vine Joy Randolph, 'The Holdovers' Da'Vine Joy Randolph. Steve Granitz/FilmMagic This season's breakout star is undoubtedly Da'Vine Joy Randolph who managed to bring some levity and — appropriately — joy to a heartbreaking story. For her role as Mary Lamb, Randolph has also been presented with a Golden Globe, BAFTA and SAG Award, among several other accolades. She's up for an Oscar come March 10 alongside Emily Blunt of Oppenheimer, Danielle Brooks of The Color Purple, America Ferrera of Barbie and Jodie Foster of Nyad. 04 of 07 Steven Yeun, 'Beef' Steven Yeun. Steve Granitz/FilmMagic It's inarguable that Steven Yeun delivered one of the best performances — and one of the most touching renditions of "Amazing Grace" — in Netflix's Beef, and it seems the awards show voters agreed. For his lead role as Danny Cho in the hit show, the actor was nominated for a Golden Globe, Emmy Award and SAG Award and won them all. The role also earned Yeun a trophy at the Critics Choice Awards. Though Beef isn't eligible for Oscars, it's possible Yeun will be up for more TV awards throughout 2024. 05 of 07 Ali Wong, 'Beef' Ali Wong. Netflix Ali Wong played Yeun's purported arch nemesis in the show and like her costar, she also had a clean awards season sweep. For her lead actress performance as Amy Lau, the revered stand-up comic won a Golden Globe, Emmy and SAG Award. She also came out on top at the Independent Spirit Awards and the Critics Choice Awards. Though Beef isn't eligible for Oscars, it's possible Wong, like Yeun, will be up for more TV awards throughout 2024. 06 of 07 Jeremy Allen White, 'The Bear' Jeremy Allen White. Michael Buckner/Golden Globes 2024/Golden Globes 2024 via Getty Jeremy Allen White made a splash as Carmy in The Bear last year, and his winning streak continued this year. The actor also won in every major category he was nominated for, beating out equally powerhouse performances from the likes of Only Murders in the Building's Martin Short, Barry's Bill Hader and even costar Ebon Moss-Bachrach at the Golden Globe, Emmy and SAG Awards. The 2024 Emmys will come around this fall, giving White another opportunity for gold. 07 of 07 Ayo Edebiri, 'The Bear' Ayo Edebiri. Kayla Oaddams/WireImage Like her costar, Ayo Edebiri also had a stellar awards season. Her win at the SAG Awards on Feb. 24 completed her winning streak, as she took home the trophies for supporting actress at the Golden Globes and the Emmys as well. The faux Princess of Ireland previously won for the role at the 2023 Astra TV Awards. Like White, she could be adding to her trophy shelf again later this year when the Emmy Awards come back around.
