All about the ‘flawless’ 5-carat engagement ring Shaun White gave Nina Dobrev
This bling deserves a gold medal.
Shaun White and Nina Dobrev are engaged after nearly five years together, with the snowboarder popping the question in a romantic NYC scene earlier this month.
White, 38, revealed in a Vogue interview that he had planned multiple different proposal options before finally landing on a low-key yet romantic plan that included a forged invitation from none other than Anna Wintour.
The Olympian popped the question with a 5-carat diamond ring from Lorraine Schwartz, which the celeb-adored jeweler described to Page Six Style as “a flawless diamond for a flawless girl.”
Other celebrities who wear Schwartz-designed engagement sparkers include Kourtney Kardashian, Beyoncé, Hailey Bieber and Blake Lively.

Mike Fried, CEO of The Diamond Pro (who did not work on the design), tells us that he estimates the ring to be worth $250,000.
“A high-quality diamond of this size is rare and, therefore, quite expensive,” he says. “The diamond is set on a thin band, allowing the huge stone to take the spotlight. An oval diamond offers a timeless look with extra elegance thanks to its elongated shape.”
Lorel Diamonds jeweler Laura Taylor estimates the value at closer to $270,000, telling us, “With [Dobrev’s] ever-expanding list of hobbies, from snowboarding to swimming with tiger sharks, as well as her bold approach to fashion and beauty, this ring’s understated design complements her personality without overshadowing it.
After scrapping plans to pop the question in May before Dobrev, 35, injured her knee in a bike accident on vacation or in November on a trip to South Africa, White devised a plan to get the “Vampire Diaries” outfitted in Chanel for a Vogue/CFDA party that didn’t exist.
When she arrived at a private room in a West Village restaurant, her now-fiancé awaited the actress in a Ralph Lauren suit, surrounded by white roses.
“I went into shock. I just froze and stared at him,” Dobrev told Vogue. Then, she went, “No.” And then: “No, no, no!”
While White hid the sparkler in various places around their home, including the garage, Dobrev kept it locked up for a few days to keep their news private until she decided, “I don’t want to take it off anymore!”
With a major stunner from Schwartz, we don’t blame her.
