Dove Cameron gets anti-gun tattoo in honor of co-star Cameron Boyce

Cameron Boyce is never far from Dove Cameron‘s mind.

As part of the “24 Hours with Vogue” video series, the magazine followed Dove’s day, which included rock climbing and getting a commemorative tattoo for her “Descendants” co-star, who died in his sleep in July from an epilepsy-related seizure.

The tattoo features a revolver with a flower sticking out of its barrel, which Dove, 23, described as “sort of a nationally recognized symbol for peace and anti-gun movements.”

She explains that before Cameron Boyce’s death at the age of 20, he’d created an organization called Wielding Peace — now run by the Cameron Boyce Foundation — which uses photographs as a means for advocating the end of gun violence. In one portrait for the project, he holds a bouquet of flowers.

“It was really beautiful, and I’ve been trying to think of a tattoo to get for him since he passed,” Dove said, “and I just felt that this one was really appropriate.”
