Ansel Elgort is not very good at blending in.
The “Fault in Our Stars” star was spotted at the VIP opening of the 2019 Whitney Biennial at the Whitney Museum of American Art on Tuesday night, where he “stuck out like a sore thumb despite trying not to be seen,” a spy told Page Six.
“Ansel was trying to stay under the radar and was super casual but people definitely noticed him,” the source added.
We hear Elgort — who was sporting sunglasses (despite the party being indoors and at night), a gray beret and a very expensive pair of blue Fendi sweatpants — didn’t try to get special treatment and was seen waiting patiently on a long coat-check line at the beginning of the evening.
The 25-year-old star attended the chic affair to support his ballerina girlfriend, Violetta Komyshan, who is part of a performance piece by artist Brendan Fernandes, which he has likened to S&M culture and which “explores the dynamics of mastery and discipline as embodied by ballet.”
Komyshan posted a photo of herself and Elgort at the event to her Instagram story, in which the dancer, 23, posed in a leotard and ballet slippers as Elgort watched proudly from the sidelines.
The couple has been together for nearly eight years now — minus a brief breakup in 2014 — and originally met in high school.
Other notables spotted at the art soirée were filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, actress Stephanie March and Talking Heads frontman David Byrne.
The exhibit officially opens to the public on May 17 and will run until Sept. 22.
