Eddie Redmayne says his old schoolmate Prince William used to get roughed up on the rugby field.
“I always felt slightly sorry for him because everyone wanted to tackle the future king of England. He took all the hits,” the “Theory of Everything” star told Glamour.
Redmayne also described his former rugby teammate as “a wonderful man.”
At their English boarding school, Eton College, Redmayne and William were also members of the Eton Society, an “elite” group on campus that dates back to 1811, according to the Daily Mail.
Redmayne, 33, was also known for his singing skills as a student. He was a trained chorister, even though his royal classmate, 32, didn’t hit the stage.
“I don’t think singing was his thing,” Redmayne joked to Movieline.
Since his days at Eton, Redmayne has gone on to star in movies including “My Life with Marilyn” and “Les Misérables.” He’s currently up for a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in “The Theory of Everything.”
