Palace to charities: You’ll have to wait for Kate

Not surprisingly, when Kate Middleton marries Prince William this spring, she’ll be in high demand for charities seeking her patronage — but the palace says they will have to wait, People magazine reported today.

A palace source told the magazine it will take “months or even years” for her to build up her patronages — much like it took time for Prince William to build up his set of patronages, which range from charities that deal with homelessness to those that aid servicemen and women.

When asked about the matter, a palace spokesman said, “Inevitably we have had approaches, but we are not making decisions before the wedding…Catherine wants time, once she is a member of the Royal Family, to come to a decision about what she wants to do. She wants to decide what her own interests are and develop those over time.”
