RLF is looking for an experienced Project Accountant to provide accounting and financial specialist support to Project Managers and/or project team(s).
As a Project Accountant, you will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of projects, accurately invoicing clients, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, and collaborating with project managers to ensure project success.
In this role you will:
Prepare final invoice package containing draft and final invoices for all billable projects, including all applicable backup for approval.
Review for accuracy and completeness.
Ensure accurate and timely billing to clients.
Collaborate with and support Project Managers to ensure accurate billing and project financials.
Monitor project expenses and ensure compliance with project budgets.
Prepare and forward invoices and related billing documents to clients.
Research Accounts Receivable reconciliation issues including past due payments.
Prepare monthly client Accounts Receivable statements for distribution.
Assist in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
Perform Accounts Payable duties as assigned including AP Trade and AP Consultant invoices, payments, expense reports, check requests, and related reports.
Reconcile monthly vendor statements, and research any discrepancies.
Assist with year-end support of review, audit and tax requirements, which may include research and reconcilement.
Recommend improvements to accounting processes including Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable.
Perform detailed and involved accounting tasks related to managing project contract, billing events and billing transaction exceptions revenue for larger and/or multi-faceted complex projects.
Maintain project accounting records in Deltek Vantagepoint.

The ideal candidate will possess:
Associate degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field.
4 years of experience with Accounts Receivable or General Accounting.
Previous experience with an architectural, design, engineering, and/or construction firm strongly preferred.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, procedures, and practices.
Excellent attention to detail, multitasking, and organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal, client service, and communications skills.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Strong Excel skills including pivot tables and Vlookup.
Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint preferred.
