M Zao are not fucking around. After a 20+ year career, they hit harder than ever with this recording. A perfect set list, mastered to an intimidating perfection. Favorite track: Ghost Psalm (Live From The Church).
Replicate Extinction

Replicate Extinction The first time I heard Zao was in 1999. I was a young teenager. hearing this now is surreal. To hear this level of quality from these giants is surely a blessing. and what a fantastic production. thank you for this amazing performance, ZAO. I'm especially impressed by how the band has continued to refine the old songs. the tightness and quality of craftsmanship from ZAO here is just fantastic. Quality release.
Blue Monday '89

Blue Monday '89 Amazing performance; tight production, thick guitars, vicious drums and Dan sounding like a snarling hellbeast gargling razorblades - absolutely awesome. Would love to see more releases like this in the future... Favorite track: How Are The Weak Free (Live From The Church).

We are the Ship of Theseus Singular and all A sum drawn to the surface By the fragments we recall We are the Ship of Theseus Composed of flesh and bone An atypical anomaly Unfolding on its own A lost singularity sprawls out over time Searching for the space where dimensions can combine A lost singularity sprawls out over time Searching for the place where everything will become nothing Nothing Nothing can ever stay the same Disrupted function Collapse the waveform This is the Ship of Theseus (We are) fragments of the frame Composing a new identity From the prototypal remains
3.
Come out of your stare Touch the ground with your prayers Breathe out the lies His words were sharpened hooks beneath your skin You let them in as he shone into the eyes around him Cradled by a cold floor Isolation reveals his true motivation Her petals are slowly torn away Scarlet adorns the snow
4.
Human cattle masses marching Their eyes are blank and erratic Susceptible to the droning hypnosis that rides through dissonant skies Loud and arrogant choir like voices Singing as they trample the earth And the truths of the past Violence meets their opposition Human cattle masses marching forward Scared and consuming Wearing their master's brand Questioning not where they are going Human cattle masses marching forward Forward
5.
In a fevered dream A code was shown to me by disembodied tongues clear and clean You’ll see it, but not with your eyes Obscured through our mortal disguise The maze-like depths of the haunting pools If one were to arrive below the line Pulled by the tide One can’t come out This code the tongues have spoken “It was broken when we found it (We found it like that)” You’ll see it, but not with your eyes Obscured through our mortal disguise The maze-like depths of the haunting pools If one were to arrive below the line Pulled by the tide One can’t come out
6.
Here but not here, torn from the axis Torn from the axis, here but not here We’re unable to awake And we’ve forgot that we are sleeping We’re unable to awake And we’ve forgot that it’s a dream A shell within a shell… within a shell…within a shell... Within a shell… in a disguise Pulled from a dream into another dream Croatoan
7.
I saw the end in the beginning A vision of a wheel spinning unbound (Ascend) I saw the sky consuming itself The air was vacant and absent of sound (Ascend, Descend) Unbroken consciousness amends Abide in smoldering inverted pyres Whisper to us from futures past Reveal to us our own true form (Ascend) Within the mind’s darkness There lies a doorway A mirror that does not cast forth a reflection (Descend) Formed in a forge not made by man It’s frame not cast by human hands Those able to gaze beyond its surface Trembling they’ll shatter and pass through For we’re called to join the parade The one in which we all must march As our true fears are displayed It calls from the void It’s voice echoes from within the space where creation was destroyed
8.
Anger casts shadows of doubt Inviting them in has hollowed you out The purest disgust one can ever feel It lives in our voice it guides our eyes It’s forcing us to realize We’re born from the fear, the fear of death Proven designs crush weakened minds Exceptions to the rule and anomalies Stir up violence with silver spoons Cries of persecution from the persecutors tongue The medium agitates the hive Frothing hordes of true believers You are right, yes you are right You have been chosen to ruin countless heathen lives Our path of sight through perception is soiled As our sanity turns spoiled Commands sent down by light and sound Imaginary generals lie tired from the war They will become what they abhor A well-intentioned virus posing as a cure
9.
Every kiss is a goodbye kiss And every touch is momentary Like trying to hold her ghost Yet she disappears at sunrise Sometimes the past is all we have I see you in my mind so clearly A salvation to these tired, cold and searching eyes We fade, we fade away like dream We come, we come apart at the seam Every moment comes to an end Just another fading memory She let life destroy her Move through me like a ghost No one to break their blades No one to cut their throats All of your words will wash away My broken heart stills mends But you could care less anyway
10.
They will hunt again With years to plan and sharpen their teeth To smile and walk free But no one knows, no one knows Free the wolf from his cage Watch him hunt, stalk his prey We let them go They will hunt again Prey on the simple Feast in the temple Free the wolf Free the wolf from his cage Watch him hunt, stalk his prey We must put him down We'll put him down again Our protectors hide and grin
11.
Realization comes through reaping Reality contained in quiet My companions are walking corpses I am buried with their words Buried with your words Turned their backs on me Scared to see the ghost You turned and walked away Scared to see the ghost Time to go One last look, one last touch A ghost to those I love Time to go One last look, one last touch Goodbye to those I love Time to go One last look, one last touch So close Torn From the axis As we scatter the ashes So close to separation A ghost without a name So close to separation A ghost without a grave So close
12.
A ring of haze encircles the enshrouded truth within Another veil is broken as the cosmos prepare to break forth in fulfillment A blanket of deception Lifted from sacred whispers which contain the thought of all that is one A sword unsheathed is drawn Bringing years of deception to its knees by the stars that died Before the earth itself Still so many choose to warm themselves beneath deception As the end draws near and history closes I see that the wind and the rain and all which is the latter Will bring clarity and understanding to this trembling world May the lack of knowledge that destroys us be lifted from our minds Rain!
