Major: Neuroscience
High School: Oak Hills High School
Year of Scholarship: 2020
Congratulations to 2020 OAB Kids Scholarship recipient, Taylor Glover! A 2020 graduate of Oak Hills High School in Cincinnati, Taylor plans to study neuroscience at the University of Cincinnati. Her father, Jeremy Glover, is a creative services producer with WCPO-TV.
Like the rest of this year’s graduating class, the coronavirus pandemic caused Taylor to miss out on traditional milestones like prom and the typical graduation ceremony, but her outstanding accomplishments have set her on a path for a bright future.
Taylor, a valedictorian and AP Scholar with Distinction, earned her school’s highest academic honors all four years of her high school career. When she started learning biology in 8th grade, she felt a passion for the subject, and soon knew that she wanted to learn about biology for the rest of her life.
“My interests steered in the direction of the nervous system as I took other science classes,” Taylor said. “I realized how passionate and dedicated I am to learn everything about our detailed and unique brains that make us work and give us our diverse and beautiful personalities.”
In addition to her passion for science, Taylor also has a strong passion for music becoming a member of Tri-M Music Honor Society, participating in the OMEA District 14 Honor Band, and serving as mellophone section leader for both marching band and pep band.
“I have found that marching band is the most rewarding activity I have participated in,” said Taylor. “As a shy, timid freshman, I grew into a confident and passionate senior who loves music and performance.”
Taylor continued, “After all the hard work and dedication we put into competitions, I have realized how much I have grown as a leader, marcher, musician, and overall human.”
This sentiment is echoed by Kevin Sweatman, Oak Hills High School Director of Bands, who shared, “Taylor’s diligent work ethic, willingness to trust and learn, and unwavering dedication has helped our program take a major leap forward in a short period of time.”
Taylor plans to audition for UC’s marching band later this summer and hopes to spend time with friends “once life begins to go back to normal!”
