I really like this diagram illustrating all the browser network timings. I wonder why there isn’t requestEnd event. Default values are important to make software frictionless. Developers exposes a parameter and set a default value that meets the general case and users don’t have to bother with them much. However, when a default value doesn’t meet the system requirements or worse changed from one release to another it can have significant performance regression. In this podcast, I tell a story about a change in default value in Postgres 14 that caused a performance regression. This is the story of the INDEX_CLEANUP = AUTO which used to be INDEX_CLEANUP = ON on PG13 and earlierc a parameter that lets vacuum clean up index’s dead tuples, not a trival operation. Encapsulation indirectly supports the DIP (dependency inversion principle) by promoting loose coupling between classes. 🚀 Exciting Milestone in My Radar Data Processing Project: A Security Processing Integrated Data Radar 🚀 After some time away from LinkedIn, I’m thrilled to share the completion of a highly confidential radar data processing system that I've had the privilege to develop as the Core Backend Developer. This project focuses on real-time radar data reception, transforming raw data into actionable intelligence for critical operations, including detecting external threats, tracking objects, and monitoring movements with the capability to immediately respond to such threats with detailed data. Key highlights include: Real-time TCP/UDP communication for continuous radar data streaming. Advanced data parsing & transformation of radar signals into geographic coordinates. Threat detection and object tracking through precise radar analysis. Dynamic configuration management with seamless updates, ensuring adaptability without system downtime. Robust error handling and automated reconnections to maintain data flow, even in challenging conditions. # Melbourne Compose - will it prove a worthy successor to Melbourne Scala? Many of you will know that I organised Melbourne Scala User Group meetings for about 12 years. We had some great times! This post is about Melbourne Compose, a successor group to Melbourne Scala that I have started with John Walker, who runs the Melbourne Haskell meetup [https://lnkd.in/gzAmbsH7]. Join the group at https://lnkd.in/gFmDh-nz I believe Melbourne Scala expired due to a combination of - Covid and the post-covid rise of WFH work culture which greatly reduced in-person meetup activity across the city - The lack of a sponsor to cover the steadily rising fees charged by Meetup.com. If you don't payup $300+ a year, they don't just disable new events, they delete the entire group! (er.. no thanks, we'll take our business elsewhere) - A decline in activity around Scala, and functional programming generally, in Australia, (eg the loss of Lambdajam conference :cry:). People asked me afterward whether there would be a future Melbourne Scala, and then John and I got into a fruitful conversation about merging our efforts. We talked about what motivated us to run a meetup/user group in the first place. And we looked at what has been working elsewhere, such as Brisbane's BFPG [https://lnkd.in/gWErd4di] and Sydney's SydFP [https://lnkd.in/gdwn4dqB]. And formed some opinions.. Firstly, the world has a surplus of online content. So much community and content have gone online that there's little demand for more. And do people really want to be on zoom after hours when they already spent the workday online? However, the online experience is not the same as in person (IRL). While online is convenient, it is also lacking the spontaneity and social connection that physical company offers. I find communication via zoom etc plain exhausting, even after much practice. It is suited to broadcast model where one presents and others listen. But spontaneous conversation & collaboration feels stunted. Secondly, it seems that multi -language and-technology user-groups prove more resilient than narrower, focused groups. As well as drawing from a wider base, they can better adapt to evolving technology trends. And so, John and I decided we wanted to focus on a group whose charter spanned the breadth of "Typed Functional Programming" and which includes regular in-person gatherings. We realise that in this post-Covid world, IRL gatherings will likely be small. It's more effort to head out from home, than coming on to a city meetup after the office. But when I think back to some of the early meetings of Melbourne Scala, how awesome they were, and how much I learned and grew from those experiences, I do hope "Small is beautiful". In C, a do while loop is a control flow statement that executes a block of code at least once before checking a condition. The key feature of the do while loop is that it guarantees at least one execution of the loop's body, regardless of the condition.

Understanding Deep Copy in C# In C#, managing object instances and their data effectively is crucial for building robust applications. One common concept developers encounter is the distinction between shallow copy and deep copy. In this article, we will explore what deep copy is, how it differs from shallow copy, and how to implement it in C#. What is Shallow Copy? Before diving into deep copy, it’s essential to understand shallow copy. A shallow copy creates a new object that is a copy of the original object, but it copies only the references to the nested objects. Consequently, changes made to the nested objects in the copied instance will reflect in the original instance since both references point to the same memory location. Example of Shallow Copy public class Address {   public string Street { get; set; } } public class Person {   public string Name { get; set; }   public Address Address { get; set; } } Person original = new Person { Name = "John", Address = new Address { Street = "123 Main St" } }; Person shallowCopy = original; // This is a shallow copy shallowCopy.Address.Street = "456 Elm St"; // Changes the street in both instances Console.WriteLine(original.Address.Street); // Output: 456 Elm St What is Deep Copy? Deep copy, on the other hand, creates a new object along with copies of all the nested objects. This means that modifications to the nested objects in the copied instance will not affect the original instance, as they reside in different memory locations. Example of Deep Copy To implement deep copy, you can use several methods, such as serialization or manually cloning objects.
