Sounds like an internal primary or secondary index 'skew' between different systems (or just a bug). Can happen when restoring records to a database in live use when changing a schema, as the precise order that sets the foreign key mappings used by the other system will not match... This might even be a stale cache somewhere.. Hence why you should always use synthetic keys when maintaining a relationship between two distinct databases, never use internal primary or secondary keys, just asking for trouble... #databreach #australia #databases #integrity

Super important: Why you should have multiple backups sometimes Google recently made a major error by inadvertently deleting the private Google Cloud account of UniSuper, a $125 billion Australian pension fund. This mishap left over half a million UniSuper members unable to access their accounts for nearly a week, as reported by The Guardian. Fortunately, UniSuper had a backup account with another cloud provider, allowing services to be restored by May 2. This incident underscores the critical importance of having multiple backups and a robust disaster recovery plan. We built Crunchy Bridge to be the first multi-cloud database provider with no lock-in. We've provided that experience for years to customers that truly wanted no lock-in. When I say no lock-in I mean you can have your backups locally, you can actually create a replica of your database that is fully managed (by Crunchy Data) locally on premise. In a disaster situation you'd still have your data, and it doesn't take convoluted engineering setups. Nicolò Ferranti delved into Low-Code methods as well as High-Code plugins in C#, demonstrating how to load assemblies into #dataverse to capture events and also a PCF (PowerApps Component Framework) control in ReactJs with monitoring embedded. Angelo Gulisano showcased Power Automate, highlighting its seamless integration with an Azure Function written in NodeJs for capturing telemetry data. There has been a lot of hype around the Rust programming language. Most articles and blogs I read are heavy on promises, and a little light on testing. I’ve done a simple comparison between a lambda written in Python vs the same lambda written in Rust. Both use the official AWS SDKs. Boto3 is well established but the Rust SDK is new. The official release was about 8 months ago at reinvent. I’ve load tested both using K6. Why? Well, because I want to see for myself if I really do get the 8x improvement in performance and equivalent reduction in cost that people promote. What were the results? NZ Tech Week this week, and looking through the events schedule, AI is definitely the big focus for a lot of folks, which is no surprise- 76 out of 208 events are AI related. The industry is focused on it for sure, but other than people using ChatGPT, I wonder how much of the public is really as gung-ho about AI? The geeks are into it because its interesting and technical, the corporations are into it because it's got the potential to make a lot of money and the competitions all doing it, so you'd be silly not to have a horse in the race. But there's a lot of aspects to this AI thing- safety, ethics, copyrights, digital equity, sustainability and economics, creativity, livelihoods and even extinction. TechWeek might be a good place to have a peek at some of these topics, but I think a lot of communities really need to get together and seriously look at the incoming direct and indirect impact of all of this tech that has and will infiltrate a huge part of people's every existence. On that note, happy techweek everyone 😂- I'm thinking of doing a special "Techweek NZ" TechNesian Live Stream edition this Thursday night to look at these events and the topics they're covering (not an event review as such, more looking at what people are talking about).
