3 December marks International Day of People with Disability (IDPWD), a day meant to promote community awareness, understanding, and acceptance of people with disability. As we celebrate the progress made, we remain committed to fostering accessibility, inclusion, and representation at every level. TTC Digital Accessibility Practice shares conversations with disability leaders we’ve hosted throughout the year. Check it out ⬇️ #IDPWD #IDPWD2024 #Accessibility
Today (3 December) is International Day of People with Disability. It is a United Nations observed day and aims to promote community awareness and understanding of people with disability. The theme for 2024 is “Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future”. This theme is all about people with disability as leaders. Leaders with disability provide representation, skills, perspective and experience; however, a survey in 2022 found only 19% of people with disability aged 18 and over reported feeling represented in leadership roles. While there is still a long way to go to improve representation, we are celebrating this year's theme by sharing our series of interviews with disability leaders from earlier this year, including: Nadia Mattiazzo, disability advocate and leader talks about the history of assistive technologies and the barriers people with disability face today Joe DiNero from UsableNet and Helen Keller Services shares the impact accessibility can have on the lives of people with disability, and the shortcomings of automated testing tools. Samantha Nuttall, The Neurodivergent Coach talks about the importance of Neuroinclusion. You can watch all of the webinars and learn more on our website here: https://lnkd.in/gwh-g6yy #IDPWD #IDPWD2024
