The Land Mobile Radio project is well underway and teams have begun to install the new radio equipment in our ambulances and emergency response vehicles 🚑 This new digital radio platform has been designed to provide improved coverage, secure communications, and improved performance for emergency services. The team from Tait Communications have been on site and working hard to get everything installed ready for the system to launch late next year. This exciting project is part of the Public Safety Network, lead by the Next Generation Critical Communications Lead Entity and will make a real difference to our ambulance operations teams as we work with other emergency services. #EMS #Communications #EmergencyServices #Ambulance #NewZealand #NZ

We are thrilled to have been chosen as Ryman Healthcare's Charity Partner for 2025 💛 This partnership will allow us to continue to make life changing differences with our communities, including extending the reach of our St John in School’s programme. This fun and interactive programme is run in schools around the motu to equip tamariki with the skills to be lifesavers in an emergency, avoid injury, and become guardians of wellbeing in their communities. We are looking forward to connecting with as many Ryman residents and staff as possible as this partnership grows. A big thank you Ryman Healthcare, your support will make a huge impact in helping us to support the communities we serve.

Today is International Children's Day, and we're spotlighting our St John Youth 💙 Our St John Youth program is a place where tamariki and rangatahi learn first aid, leadership and life skills while building friendships. This year, our rangatahi have shown remarkable growth during camps and activities, learning new skills and growing their sense of community. Each camp has contributed to their development, whether it's the bravery of staying away from home, learning to triage and treat patients, or forming lasting bonds with peers. Our cadets have also tackled some challenging simulations and competitions where they showed their skills and earned badges celebrating their achievements. A big thank you to all our St John Youth members for your dedication and sense of fun, and to our leaders for your commitment and encouragement. #Youth #NZ #StJohn #FirstAid #Leadership

This month we were proud to run the Traumed 2024 conference 'Racing the Clock' ⏰ Traumed is our annual emergency care conference which focuses on the emergency care of sick or injured patients, equipping professionals with the skills and information to provide the best patient care. The conference includes specialised information for those in roles which encounter trauma and medical emergencies, including ambulance officers, doctors, nurses and emergency department staff. This year’s theme was ‘Racing the Clock,’ with a focus on conditions where patient outcomes can be positively affected by the timely identification, intervention, and definitive treatment 💛 Thank you to all the specialist speakers from around the motu and overseas who shared their knowledge, and to all those who attended our 2024 conference. #EMS #EmergencyMedicine #NZ #PatientCare

We are excited to be one of the first organisations around the motu to be a part of the Pride Pledge🏳️🌈 Gender Affirmation Policy Register. Joining the register is a voluntary commitment by organisations to have inclusive policies and to make these publicly available on their website. By joining this register, we are taking a step forward in ensuring that our workplace is welcoming and affirming for gender diverse communities. #Pride #GenderAffirmation #Inclusion #Diversity

Some of our team were part Exercise Pandora last week, a collaborative event led by the National Emergency Management Agency (NZ) which included agencies from around Canterbury, West Coast and Marlborough. The exercise simulated a day 3 response after an Alpine Fault earthquake and was designed to test response planning and the coordination of response across local, district, and national levels. Our Liaison Officers were deployed to each local Civil Defense Emergency Operations Centre and we also activated our own centre to support the ongoing response. This exercise was an excellent opportunity to test our response plans that will enable coordinated action with a range of different organisations in a major disaster. #EmergencyManagement #Collaboration #Planning #NZ

Our volunteer leaders play a vital role looking after our 8,000 volunteers across the motu. Today is International Volunteer Managers day and we want to say a big thank you to all our volunteer managers and team leaders for their passion and dedication in supporting our volunteers. To mark this special day we caught up with Ben, one of our Volunteer Team Leaders in Canterbury. Ben works with a team who train, support and prepare our new volunteers for their roles. He says the highlights of his role are connecting with people and the training, development and exercises they do together as a team. A big thank you to Ben and all our Volunteer Managers around the motu for the amazing work you do supporting our volunteers 🏆 #ThankYou #Volunteer #NZ #IVMDay24

We are excited to announce that this 'Shocktober' our team have trained over 35,000 people around the motu in the 3 Steps for Life, equipping them with skills on how to respond in a cardiac arrest 💛 Around 7 people a day are treated for a cardiac arrest in our communities, more than 2,000 people each year. These can happen anytime, anywhere and this map shows cardiac arrest incidents over just one month. Early identification and intervention, including effective CPR and defibrillation, are crucial and can dramatically improve the chances of survival. Every person trained is a step closer to saving a life. Thank you to everyone who came to a 3 Steps for Life event this month. If you missed us this month, it's never to late to learn, find out more about booking a session at https://lnkd.in/geNisqdh #CardiacArrest #CPR #AED #Community #Shocktober #NZ

The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting is currently on in Apia, Samoa with leaders from 55 Commonwealth countries. Members of our Ambulance Operations team are in Samoa, and have been working alongside the Samoa Fire and Emergency Services Authority and the New Zealand Medical Assistance Team to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all attendees. Funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, our deployment has included five ambulances, one 4WD, and several other vehicles, all stocked with medical supplies. Our team also completed key training sessions to prepare for the specific challenges of the event, including Tropical Environment Adaptation, Medical Protocols and Cultural Awareness. This has been a unique opportunity for our team to work alongside other New Zealand and Samoan agencies as we support this important event.
