Google’s Cookie U-turn: What it means for NZ Marketers Remember when Google was all set to give third-party cookies the boot? In classic Google fashion, they’ve done a bit of a U-turn. Initially, Google revealed plans for deprecating third-party cookies in Chrome, which would have significantly impacted how we track and target users online. But now, they’ve changed course. So, what’s the deal for us marketers here in NZ? https://lnkd.in/gaUt-NHP

Why do Google Search Console (GSC) clicks never seem to match Google Analytics (GA4) sessions? Don’t worry - today's the day when it’ll all make sense. “Clicks” are when a user visits directly from a Google search results page and lands on your page. “Sessions” are user-initiated visits, defined by Google as “a group of user interactions with your website within a given time frame”. GA’s sessions last for 30 minutes of inactivity by default, meaning that multiple clicks can occur within the same session. You’ll also find organic search data won’t always align. This is because GA displays user sessions across all search engines, while GSC only counts Google searches and doesn’t include paid ads. These are the core reasons why data displayed in Google Analytics and Google Search Console will never match up. But their purpose is the same – to provide marketers with an in-depth analysis of site engagement. Find out more about the difference between GSC and GA4 in our analytics guide. 😊 https://lnkd.in/gHzjmJem
