Awards are an opportunity for us to benchmark our marketing strategies and safety campaigns against the wider New Zealand marketing industry and many of the sector’s biggest players. For our winning entry, the judges were impressed by our “clever approach to the serious subject of safety, wrapping it up in a better user experience to win overall awareness, engagement and usage” of the Plan My Walk trip planning website and app. They were looking for entries that demonstrated how an effective marketing strategy led to measurable results. We did it! Last night was a huge win for us at the YouTube NZ Marketing Awards 2024. We were finalists for three awards and we’re over the moon to have taken home the Excellence in Travel/Leisure & Entertainment Marketing Strategy for our most recent Plan My Walk campaign. Seeing our small team’s name shine alongside massive brands and agencies (for the 5th year straight!) is a dream come true. We’re especially proud to highlight safety in this category, ensuring it’s top of mind when we talk about travel and outdoor adventures in Aotearoa. A massive thank you to our partners Supergood for their marketing magic and Somar Digital for their continuous innovation and app development. To all our incredible Plan My Walk users, testers, and advocates—you’re the real MVPs! Every time you use Plan My Walk, leave a track review, share with friends, or give us feedback, you’re helping us make outdoor adventures safer and more enjoyable for everyone. We’re pumped for what’s next and can’t wait to continue supporting your epic outdoor adventures! #NZMarketingAwards #YouTube #PlanMyWalk Marketing Association

In late June 2024, a party of four, including Samuel Krampera, set off for a day’s ice climbing. Later that day, Samuel fell 15m, landing and rolling another 15m before coming to an eventual stop. He sustained serious injuries in the fall, including a fractured vertebrae and sternum, but he was lucky it wasn’t worse. Four weeks after the incident, he’s progressing well. Reflecting on the day, Samuel shared key learnings with MSC. We're incredibly thankful to Samuel for being so open and sharing his experience and valuable insights with us and Aotearoa's climbing community. By sharing stories like this, our intention is to create a space for learning so we can all stay safe in New Zealand's great outdoors. Have you ever thought about what you'd do if there was an earthquake while you were in the outdoors? After we received questions about this topic from our outdoor community, we put together some practical suggestions to help people prepare for and manage a quake situation. Is there anything you'd add to this list? Let us know in the comments. https://lnkd.in/d3_dnh68 #OutdoorSafety #EarthquakesNZ

Aspiring Guides hosted a free Backcountry Session community event in Wānaka last week. Attendees listened and learned about Avalanche Safety in the backcountry, with speakers including Tom Willmot - Aspiring Guides, representatives from Search and Rescue Avalanche Dogs (SARDA) and MSC Partnerships Advisor Alpine Bianca Bratton, who spoke about the NZ Avalanche Advisory and other resources/tips for successful trip planning. A huge attendance saw the venue reach capacity with 85 pax and, unfortunately, another 40 were turned away at the door - a terrific response and keen interest from the community to learn about avalanche safety. #AvalancheSafety #AvalancheEducation

Today is your last chance to share your thoughts in the Outdoor Recreation Accessibility Survey! The survey closes at 5 pm on Friday 12 April. Our friends at Recreation Aotearoa | Te Whai Oranga and the Department of Conservation (DOC) want to hear about the outdoor recreation activities people with disabilities and tāngata whaikaha Māori would like to be doing, and the experiences they’ve had in the outdoors. Survey invitation information is available in NZSL, Easy Read, Large Print, and Audio formats. There is also a separate link for those who use screen readers or assistive technologies. Need assistance? Recreation Aotearoa | Te Whai Oranga can help over the phone or by email. Complete the survey: https://bit.ly/3PvVOrk Photo credit: Sam Newton. Our Outdoor Recreation Accessibility Survey, in partnership with Department of Conservation closes this Friday 12 April at 5pm. We want to hear about the outdoor recreation activities people with disabilities and tāngata whaikaha Māori would like to be doing, and the experiences they’ve had in the outdoors. We've been blown away by the response so far! There's still time for people with disabilities to participate. We’d also appreciate your support through sharing the survey with disability organisations, individuals, and whānau you're connected with.
