In December 2023, the Ministry of Education New Zealand (MoE) made a strategic decision to migrate its Progress and Consistency Tool (PaCT) and Te Waharoa Ararau applications to Catalyst Cloud. "The migration of these critical systems to [the Cove platform on] Catalyst Cloud has delivered significant benefits to the Ministry, and provides us with a solid foundation for future scalability." - Stuart Wakefield, Chief Digital Officer, Ministry of Education. We are proud to have partnered with the Ministry for over a decade, building both PaCT and Te Waharoa Ararau, though the hosting and support had been split across different vendors. These systems are used by educators and administrators nationwide to track student progress and assessment. Therefore, the Ministry required a stable and secure platform to ensure continuous functionality and performance. Today, we were delighted to host the Software Association of Japan at Catalyst as part of their tour of Aotearoa New Zealand. They're connecting with New Zealand Government officials and local software development businesses to share their work, discuss trends, and learn more about what NZ is doing in the tech sector.  It was a great opportunity to reflect on some of our made-in-New Zealand turned global successes like Totara, Mahara , and RiskScape, and gain insights into open source software adoption in Japan. #IT #Tech #OpenSource

They work with communities to ensure their collections are managed and accessed securely and sustainably for the people who need to access them. Community is at the heart of open source software. When communities can come together to share resources, experience, and passion, it can enable more meaningful collaboration. One example of this is KohaCon, the annual Koha conference for Koha developers and users. At events like KohaCon, attendees can: • understand how Koha is used in unique and creative ways • generate support for new ideas or changes to the platform • grow and strengthen the global community of Koha developers, supporters, and users • have strategic conversations in person. All developments in Koha have been requested by a person or organisation, so each enhancement solves a problem for a real user. KohaCon provides an opportunity to create those connections and to continue to build the library system for the community that uses it.
