👪 When was the last time you talked about money with your family? As the holidays bring us together, it’s often a time for celebration, but it can also serve as an opportunity to discuss important financial matters. While it may seem uncomfortable, having these conversations can set your family up for success. As Will Roberts, Director of Private Wealth at Alvarium, wisely shares, “One of the most crucial conversations parents can have with their children is about finances, especially how they plan to distribute their assets after their passing. Although this conversation can be difficult, it’s essential to ensure that everyone knows what is happening in advance and has the chance to talk about it.” In his insightful article, Will offers strategies for broaching important topics, from aligning expectations to ensuring that loved ones are prepared. It’s not just about money—it’s about protecting your legacy and fostering clear communication for generations to come. At Alvarium, we believe that planning for the future—together—is essential for legacies that span generations. It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you of the death of our colleague and friend, Hamesh Sharma who passed away on 17 October. Hamesh was a valuable member of both the Pathfinder and Alvarium team. His passion for investing and his aptitude for research and thinking outside the box brought a unique and passionate approach to portfolio building and growth. Our thoughts are with his family and many friends during this difficult time. The office is not the same without you Hamesh.
It is with incredible sadness that today we farewelled our colleague and friend, Hamesh Sharma. Both at work and outside of work Hamesh was widely loved and his energy was uplifting. He is so missed by the Alvarium and Pathfinder Whānau. Since joining us in 2019, Hamesh led our Trans-Tasman shares investment strategy. His smart, articulate and passionate approach brought so much positivity to our team. Not to mention his laughter, humour and constant flow of ideas. Our thoughts are with Hamesh’s family and many friends. This is a painful shock for everyone who knew him - Hamesh, you are deeply missed.

We’re excited to announce the opening of Trivet, a stunning new restaurant at the JW Marriott Hotel in Auckland. Thanks, in part, to a number of our clients, the hotel’s refurbishment and this innovative dining experience, inspired by Aotearoa's multicultural essence, are now a reality. Trivet opened this month for fine dining with internationally acclaimed Chef Uelese Wallace Mua. Mua started his career at The Hilton then was head chef in France before coming home to cook for award winning Kingi, at The Hotel Britomart and cooking on-tour with The All Blacks. “Trivet is more than just a restaurant; it’s a reflection of my personal journey and the influences that have shaped my culinary philosophy,” Chef Wallace explains. “Each dish tells a story, blending flavours and techniques from around the world to create something truly unique.” Alvarium is proud to be able to offer unique investment opportunities like this for our wholesale investors in New Zealand and Australia. Projects that enhance our cities and, in this case, also provide a new venue for one of NZ’s finest produce producers. Staff enjoyed a 5-course dinner at Trivet last night to celebrate its opening.
