IoT controllers are smaller, waterproof, have longer battery life, improved network coverage, and their sensors - using accelerometers, lasers, and optical technology - are now more accurate, reliable, and cost-effective. Adroit has been at the forefront of this transformation, spending the past five years developing IoT solutions to monitor the environment. Our workshop crew has worked tirelessly through the year assembling and provisioning these solutions. Rain Gauges are an accurate, automated device that continuously measures rainfall in mm. The correlation of this data with groundwater and floodwater levels, can aid in the early detection of flood risk and improve disaster management. In areas with infrastructure prone to recurring slips, tiltmeters can play a vital role in providing real-time data of even the smallest amount of ground movement. This data can aid in providing early warnings of potential hazards such as landslides, sinkholes, or structural instability. Common applications include geotechnical (construction and slope stability), dam safety monitoring, structural monitoring including power pylons, plus a wide range of geotechnical and survey applications. The installation process for tiltmeters is simple and quick, the tiltmeter is attached to the mounting area, either a ground screw or directly to the structure being monitored. The sensor is then calibrated, and connectivity is checked using cellular networks, or Iridium satellite - which ensures coverage, even in remote areas. The highly accurate sensor measures tilt on the X and Y axis to 0.001 of a degree, this environmental data which can be accessed using the Adroit App, enables you to visualise any tilt or movement from the site or structure in real-time, in the app you can also set thresholds and alerts, which can be sent to any device including mobile. Solar-powered field cameras send images every 15mins to the cloud, where they can be visualised from any connected device. This visual verification, combined with accurate site data, can assist in critical decision-making and environmental management.
